Translation

Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu řekl: „Tolik jídla nedokážu sníst a sannyāsī není povinen nechávat zbytky.“

Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu said, “I will not be able to eat so much food, and it is not the duty of a sannyāsī to leave remnants.”

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (11.18.19) říká:

bahir jalāśayaṁ gatvā
tatropaspṛśya vāg-yataḥ
vibhajya pāvitaṁ śeṣaṁ
bhuñjītāśeṣam āhṛtam
bahir jalāśayaṁ gatvā tatopaspṛśya vāg-yataḥ
vibhajya pāvitaṁ śeṣaṁ bhuñjītāśeṣam āhṛtam

„Sannyāsī by měl odnést veškeré potraviny, které získá v domech hospodářů, někam do blízkosti jezera či řeky a po obětování jídla Viṣṇuovi, Brahmovi a slunci (třech dílů), by měl vše sníst a nenechávat nic pro druhé.“

“Whatever edibles a sannyāsī gets from a householder’s house he should take outside near some lake or river, and after offering the food to Viṣṇu, Brahmā and the sun (three divisions), he should eat the entire offering and not leave anything for others to eat.”
