Translation

De ese modo realizó Sus pasatiempos el Señor Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Visitando la parte occidental de la India, concedió buena fortuna a los yavanas y mlecchas.

In this way Lord Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu performed His pastimes. Coming to the western part of India, He bestowed good fortune upon the yavanas and mlecchas.

Significado

Purport

La palabra yavana significa «que come carne». Todo el que pertenece a una comunidad de comedores de carne recibe el nombre de yavana. A quien no observa estrictamente los principios regulativos védicos, se le llama mleccha. Son palabras que no se refieren a ningún hombre en particular. Una persona puede haber nacido en una familia brāhmaṇa, kṣatriya, vaiśya o śūdra, pero, si no sigue estrictamente los principios regulativos o come carne, es un mleccha o un yavana.

The word yavana means “meat-eater.” Anyone from a meat-eating community is called a yavana. One who does not strictly observe the Vedic regulative principles is called a mleccha. These words do not refer to any particular man. Even if a person is born in a brāhmaṇa, kṣatriya, vaiśya or śūdra family, he is a mleccha or yavana if he does not strictly follow the regulative principles or if he eats meat.
