katidhāyatanāni ha
nirabhidyanta devānāṁ
tāni me gadataḥ śṛṇu

Translation

Maitreya disse: Agora, ouve-me contar como ο Senhor Supremo repartiu-Se nas diversas formas dos semideuses após a manifestação da gigantesca forma universal.

Maitreya said: You may now hear from me how the Supreme Lord separated Himself into the diverse forms of the demigods after the manifestation of the gigantic universal form.

Purport

Os semideuses são partes integrantes separadas do Senhor Supremo, assim como todas as outras entidades vivas. A única diferença entre os semideuses e as entidades vivas comuns é que, quando as entidades vivas ficam ricas com atos piedosos de serviço devocional ao Senhor, e quando seu desejo de assenhorear-se da energia material é subjugado, elas são promovidas aos cargos de semideuses, que são incumbidos pelo Senhor de executar a administração dos assuntos universais.

The demigods are separated parts and parcels of the Supreme Lord, as are all other living entities. The only difference between the demigods and the ordinary living entities is that when the living entities are rich in pious acts of devotional service to the Lord, and when their desire to lord it over material energy has vanished, they are promoted to the posts of demigods, who are entrusted by the Lord with executing the management of the universal affairs.
