Translation

¡Oh, santo sabio!, dime cómo generaron hijos el adorable Ruci y Dakṣa, el hijo de Brahmā, después de obtener por esposas a las otras dos hijas de Svāyambhuva Manu.

O holy sage, tell me how the worshipful Ruci and Dakṣa, the son of Brahmā, generated children after securing as their wives the other two daughters of Svāyambhuva Manu.

Purport

Todas las grandes personalidades que aumentaron la población del universo al principio de la creación reciben el nombre de prajāpatis. A Brahmā también se le conoce con el nombre de Prajāpati, así como a algunos de sus últimos hijos. Svāyambhuva Manu también recibe el nombre de Prajāpati, al igual que Dakṣa, otro hijo de Brahmā. Svāyambhuva Manu tuvo dos hijas, Ākūti y Prasūti. Con Ākūti se casó el prajāpati Ruci, y con Prasūti se casó Dakṣa. All the great personalities who increased the population in the beginning of the creation are called Prajāpatis. Brahmā is also known as Prajāpati, as were some of his later sons. Svāyambhuva Manu is also known as Prajāpati, as is Dakṣa, another son of Brahmā. Svāyambhuva had two daughters, Ākūti and Prasūti. The Prajāpati Ruci married Ākūti, and Dakṣa married Prasūti. These couples and their children produced immense numbers of children to populate the entire universe. Vidura’s inquiry was, “How did they beget the population in the beginning?”
