Translation
Ao tomar conhecimento de que seu filho morrera em decorrência de causas desconhecidas, o rei Citraketu praticamente perdeu a visão. Devido à sua grande afeição pelo filho, a sua lamentação crescia como um fogo abrasador, e, à medida que caminhava em direção ao filho morto, ele escorregava e caía ao chão. Cercado pelos seus ministros e outros funcionários e rodeado também pelos brāhmaṇas eruditos ali presentes, o rei se aproximou e caiu inconsciente aos pés do filho, com os cabelos e as vestes em desalinho. Quando o rei, respirando pesadamente, recobrou a consciência, seus olhos lacrimejavam, e ele não conseguia falar.
When King Citraketu heard of his son’s death from unknown causes, he became almost blind. Because of his great affection for his son, his lamentation grew like a blazing fire, and as he went to see the dead child, he kept slipping and falling on the ground. Surrounded by his ministers and other officers and the learned brāhmaṇas present, the King approached and fell unconscious at the child’s feet, his hair and dress scattered. When the King, breathing heavily, regained consciousness, his eyes were tearful, and he could not speak.
