The Opulence of the Absolute
- VERSO 1:
- A Suprema Personalidade de Deus disse: Ouça novamente, ó Arjuna de braços poderosos. Porque você é Meu amigo querido, falarei ainda mais profundamente para o seu benefício, transmitindo-lhe um conhecimento superior a tudo o que já lhe expliquei.
- TEXT 1:
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: Listen again, O mighty-armed Arjuna. Because you are My dear friend, for your benefit I shall speak to you further, giving knowledge that is better than what I have already explained.
- VERSO 2:
- Nem a multidão de semideuses nem os grandes sábios conhecem Minha origem ou opulências, pois, sob todos os aspectos, Eu sou a fonte dos semideuses e dos sábios.
- TEXT 2:
- Neither the hosts of demigods nor the great sages know My origin or opulences, for, in every respect, I am the source of the demigods and sages.
- VERSO 3:
- Quem Me conhece como o não-nascido, como aquele que não tem começo, como o Senhor Supremo de todos os mundos — somente este, que dentre os homens não se deixa iludir, está livre de todos os pecados.
- TEXT 3:
- He who knows Me as the unborn, as the beginningless, as the Supreme Lord of all the worlds – he only, undeluded among men, is freed from all sins.
- VERSOS 4-5:
- Inteligência, conhecimento, estar livre da dúvida e da ilusão, clemência, veracidade, controle dos sentidos, controle da mente, felicidade e aflição, nascimento, morte, medo, destemor, não-violência, equanimidade, satisfação, austeridade, caridade, fama e infâmia — todas essas várias qualidades dos seres vivos são criadas apenas por Mim.
- TEXTS 4-5:
- Intelligence, knowledge, freedom from doubt and delusion, forgiveness, truthfulness, control of the senses, control of the mind, happiness and distress, birth, death, fear, fearlessness, nonviolence, equanimity, satisfaction, austerity, charity, fame and infamy – all these various qualities of living beings are created by Me alone.
- VERSO 6:
- Os sete grandes sábios e, mais antigos do que eles, os outros quatro grandes sábios e os Manus [progenitores da humanidade] vêm de Mim, nascidos da Minha mente, e todos os seres vivos que povoam os vários planetas descendem deles.
- TEXT 6:
- The seven great sages and before them the four other great sages and the Manus [progenitors of mankind] come from Me, born from My mind, and all the living beings populating the various planets descend from them.
- VERSO 8:
- Eu sou a fonte de todos os mundos materiais e espirituais. Tudo emana de Mim. Os sábios que conhecem isto perfeitamente ocupam-se no Meu serviço devocional e adoram-Me de todo o coração.
- TEXT 8:
- I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who perfectly know this engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts.
- VERSO 9:
- Os pensamentos de Meus devotos puros residem em Mim, suas vidas são plenamente devotadas a Meu serviço, e eles obtêm grande satisfação e bem-aventurança sempre se iluminando uns aos outros e conversando sobre Mim.
- TEXT 9:
- The thoughts of My pure devotees dwell in Me, their lives are fully devoted to My service, and they derive great satisfaction and bliss from always enlightening one another and conversing about Me.
- VERSO 11:
- Para lhes mostrar misericórdia especial, Eu, residindo em seus corações, destruo com a luz brilhante do conhecimento a escuridão nascida da ignorância.
- TEXT 11:
- To show them special mercy, I, dwelling in their hearts, destroy with the shining lamp of knowledge the darkness born of ignorance.
- VERSOS 12-13:
- Arjuna disse: Você é a Suprema Personalidade de Deus, a morada última, o mais puro, a Verdade Absoluta. Você é a pessoa original, eterna e transcendental, o não-nascido, o maior. Todos os grandes sábios, tais como Nārada, Asita, Devala e Vyāsa, confirmam esta verdade referente a Você, e Você mesmo agora está declarando-a para mim.
- TEXTS 12-13:
- Arjuna said: You are the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the ultimate abode, the purest, the Absolute Truth. You are the eternal, transcendental, original person, the unborn, the greatest. All the great sages such as Nārada, Asita, Devala and Vyāsa confirm this truth about You, and now You Yourself are declaring it to me.
- VERSO 14:
- Ó Kṛṣṇa, aceito totalmente como verdade tudo o que Você me disse. Nem os semideuses nem os demônios, ó Senhor, podem compreender Sua personalidade.
- TEXT 14:
- O Kṛṣṇa, I totally accept as truth all that You have told me. Neither the demigods nor the demons, O Lord, can understand Your personality.
- VERSO 15:
- Na verdade, só Você mesmo Se conhece através de Sua potência interna, ó Pessoa Suprema, origem de tudo, Senhor de todos os seres, Deus dos deuses, Senhor do Universo!
- TEXT 15:
- Indeed, You alone know Yourself by Your own internal potency, O Supreme Person, origin of all, Lord of all beings, God of gods, Lord of the universe!
- VERSO 17:
- Ó Kṛṣṇa, ó místico supremo, como devo pensar constantemente em Você, e como devo conhecê-lO? Quais as Suas várias formas que devem ser lembradas, ó Suprema Personalidade de Deus?
- TEXT 17:
- O Kṛṣṇa, O supreme mystic, how shall I constantly think of You, and how shall I know You? In what various forms are You to be remembered, O Supreme Personality of Godhead?
- VERSO 18:
- Ó Janārdana, por favor, volte a descrever em detalhes o poder místico de Suas opulências. Nunca me canso de ouvir sobre Você, pois, quanto mais ouço, mais quero saborear o néctar de Suas palavras.
- TEXT 18:
- O Janārdana, again please describe in detail the mystic power of Your opulences. I am never satiated in hearing about You, for the more I hear the more I want to taste the nectar of Your words.
- VERSO 19:
- A Suprema Personalidade de Deus disse: Sim, Eu vou lhe falar sobre Minhas manifestações maravilhosas, mas só sobre aquelas que são preeminentes, ó Arjuna, pois Minha opulência é ilimitada.
- TEXT 19:
- The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: Yes, I will tell you of My splendorous manifestations, but only of those which are prominent, O Arjuna, for My opulence is limitless.
- VERSO 22:
- Dos Vedas, sou o Sāma Veda; dos semideuses, sou Indra, o rei dos céus; dos sentidos, sou a mente; e nos seres vivos, sou a força vital [consciência].
- TEXT 22:
- Of the Vedas I am the Sāma Veda; of the demigods I am Indra, the king of heaven; of the senses I am the mind; and in living beings I am the living force [consciousness].
- VERSO 23:
- De todos os Rudras, sou o Senhor Śiva; dos Yakṣas e Rākṣasas, sou o senhor das riquezas [Kuvera]; dos Vasus, sou o fogo [Agni]; e das montanhas, sou Meru.
- TEXT 23:
- Of all the Rudras I am Lord Śiva, of the Yakṣas and Rākṣasas I am the Lord of wealth [Kuvera], of the Vasus I am fire [Agni], and of mountains I am Meru.
- VERSO 25:
- Dos grandes sábios, sou Bhṛgu; das vibrações, sou o oṁ transcendental. Dos sacrifícios, sou o cantar dos santos nomes [japa], e dos objetos imóveis, sou os Himalaias.
- TEXT 25:
- Of the great sages I am Bhṛgu; of vibrations I am the transcendental oṁ. Of sacrifices I am the chanting of the holy names [japa], and of immovable things I am the Himālayas.
- VERSO 26:
- De todas as árvores, sou a figueira-de-bengala; e dos sábios entre os semideuses, sou Nārada. Dos Gandharvas, sou Citraratha, e entre os seres perfeitos, sou o sábio Kapila.
- TEXT 26:
- Of all trees I am the banyan tree, and of the sages among the demigods I am Nārada. Of the Gandharvas I am Citraratha, and among perfected beings I am the sage Kapila.
- VERSO 27:
- Dos cavalos, fique sabendo que sou Uccaiḥśravā, produzido durante o bater do oceano quando se queria obter néctar. Dos elefantes imponentes, sou Airāvata; e entre os homens, sou o monarca.
- TEXT 27:
- Of horses know Me to be Uccaiḥśravā, produced during the churning of the ocean for nectar. Of lordly elephants I am Airāvata, and among men I am the monarch.
- VERSO 28:
- Das armas sou o raio; entre as vacas sou a surabhi. Das causas que fomentam a procriação, sou Kandarpa, o deus do amor, e das serpentes, sou Vāsuki.
- TEXT 28:
- Of weapons I am the thunderbolt; among cows I am the surabhi. Of causes for procreation I am Kandarpa, the god of love, and of serpents I am Vāsuki.
- VERSO 29:
- Das Nāgas de muitos capelos, sou Ananta, e entre os seres aquáticos, sou o semideus Varuṇa. Dos ancestrais que partiram sou Aryamā, e entre aqueles que impõem a lei, sou Yama, o senhor da morte.
- TEXT 29:
- Of the many-hooded Nāgas I am Ananta, and among the aquatics I am the demigod Varuṇa. Of departed ancestors I am Aryamā, and among the dispensers of law I am Yama, the lord of death.
- VERSO 30:
- Entre os demônios Daityas, sou o devotado Prahlāda; entre os subjugadores, sou o tempo; entre os animais selvagens, sou o leão; e entre as aves, sou Garuḍa.
- TEXT 30:
- Among the Daitya demons I am the devoted Prahlāda, among subduers I am time, among beasts I am the lion, and among birds I am Garuḍa.
- VERSO 32:
- De todas as criações, sou o começo, o fim e também o meio, ó Arjuna. De todas as ciências, sou a ciência espiritual do eu, e entre os lógicos, sou a verdade conclusiva.
- TEXT 32:
- Of all creations I am the beginning and the end and also the middle, O Arjuna. Of all sciences I am the spiritual science of the self, and among logicians I am the conclusive truth.
- VERSO 34:
- Eu sou a morte que tudo devora e sou o princípio encarregado de gerar tudo o que vai existir. Entre as mulheres, sou a fama, a fortuna, a linguagem afável, a memória, a inteligência, a firmeza e a paciência.
- TEXT 34:
- I am all-devouring death, and I am the generating principle of all that is yet to be. Among women I am fame, fortune, fine speech, memory, intelligence, steadfastness and patience.
- VERSO 35:
- Dos hinos do Sāma Veda, sou o Bṛhat-sāma, e da poesia, sou o Gāyatrī. Dos meses, sou mārgaśīrṣa [novembro-dezembro], e das estações, sou a primavera florida.
- TEXT 35:
- Of the hymns in the Sāma Veda I am the Bṛhat-sāma, and of poetry I am the Gāyatrī. Of months I am Mārgaśīrṣa [November-December], and of seasons I am flower-bearing spring.
- VERSO 38:
- Dentre todos os meios que reprimem a ilegalidade, sou o castigo, e daqueles processos que visam à vitória, sou a moralidade. Das coisas secretas, sou o silêncio, e dos sábios, sou a sabedoria.
- TEXT 38:
- Among all means of suppressing lawlessness I am punishment, and of those who seek victory I am morality. Of secret things I am silence, and of the wise I am the wisdom.
- VERSO 40:
- Ó poderoso vencedor dos inimigos, Minhas manifestações divinas nunca chegam ao fim. O que lhe disse é apenas um mero indício de Minhas opulências infinitas.
- TEXT 40:
- O mighty conqueror of enemies, there is no end to My divine manifestations. What I have spoken to you is but a mere indication of My infinite opulences.
- VERSO 42:
- Mas qual é a necessidade, Arjuna, de todo esse conhecimento minucioso? Com um simples fragmento de Mim mesmo, Eu penetro e sustento todo este Universo.
- TEXT 42:
- But what need is there, Arjuna, for all this detailed knowledge? With a single fragment of Myself I pervade and support this entire universe.
