Chapter Nine

O Conhecimento Mais Confidencial

The Most Confidential Knowledge

VERSO 1:
A Suprema Personalidade de Deus disse: Meu querido Arjuna, porque você nunca Me inveja, Eu lhe transmitirei este ensinamento e compreensão muito confidenciais. E conhecendo-os, você ficará livre das misérias da existência material.
TEXT 1:
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: My dear Arjuna, because you are never envious of Me, I shall impart to you this most confidential knowledge and realization, knowing which you shall be relieved of the miseries of material existence.
VERSO 2:
Este conhecimento é o rei da educação, o mais secreto de todos os segredos. É o conhecimento mais puro, e por conceder uma percepção direta do eu, é a perfeição da religião. Ele é eterno e é executado alegremente.
TEXT 2:
This knowledge is the king of education, the most secret of all secrets. It is the purest knowledge, and because it gives direct perception of the self by realization, it is the perfection of religion. It is everlasting, and it is joyfully performed.
VERSO 3:
Aqueles que não são fiéis neste serviço devocional não podem Me alcançar, ó subjugador dos inimigos. Por isso, eles voltam a trilhar o caminho de nascimentos e mortes neste mundo material.
TEXT 3:
Those who are not faithful in this devotional service cannot attain Me, O conqueror of enemies. Therefore they return to the path of birth and death in this material world.
VERSO 4:
Sob Minha forma imanifesta, Eu penetro este Universo inteiro. Todos os seres estão em Mim, mas Eu não estou neles.
TEXT 4:
By Me, in My unmanifested form, this entire universe is pervaded. All beings are in Me, but I am not in them.
VERSO 5:
E mesmo assim, os elementos criados não repousam em Mim. Observe Minha opulência mística! Embora Eu seja o mantenedor de todas as entidades vivas e embora esteja em toda a parte, não faço parte desta manifestação cósmica, pois Meu Eu é a própria fonte da criação.
TEXT 5:
And yet everything that is created does not rest in Me. Behold My mystic opulence! Although I am the maintainer of all living entities and although I am everywhere, I am not a part of this cosmic manifestation, for My Self is the very source of creation.
VERSO 6:
Compreenda que, assim como o vento poderoso, que sopra em toda a parte, sempre permanece no céu, todos os seres criados repousam em Mim.
TEXT 6:
Understand that as the mighty wind, blowing everywhere, rests always in the sky, all created beings rest in Me.
VERSO 7:
Ó filho de Kuntī, no final do milênio todas as manifestações materiais entram na Minha natureza, e no começo do próximo milênio, através de Minha potência, Eu volto a criá-las.
TEXT 7:
O son of Kuntī, at the end of the millennium all material manifestations enter into My nature, and at the beginning of another millennium, by My potency, I create them again.
VERSO 8:
A ordem cósmica inteira está sujeita a Mim. Sob Minha vontade, ela manifesta-se automaticamente repetidas vezes, e sob Minha vontade, no final ela é aniquilada.
TEXT 8:
The whole cosmic order is under Me. Under My will it is automatically manifested again and again, and under My will it is annihilated at the end.
VERSO 9:
Ó Dhanañjaya, todos esses trabalhos não podem atar-Me. Eu estou sempre desapegado de todas essas atividades materiais como um observador neutro.
TEXT 9:
O Dhanañjaya, all this work cannot bind Me. I am ever detached from all these material activities, seated as though neutral.
VERSO 10:
Esta natureza material, que é uma das Minhas energias, funciona sob Minha direção, ó filho de Kuntī, produzindo todos os seres móveis e imóveis. Obedecendo-lhe ao comando, esta manifestação é criada e aniquilada repetidas vezes.
TEXT 10:
This material nature, which is one of My energies, is working under My direction, O son of Kuntī, producing all moving and nonmoving beings. Under its rule this manifestation is created and annihilated again and again.
VERSO 11:
Os tolos zombam de Mim quando venho sob a forma humana. Eles não conhecem Minha natureza transcendental como o Supremo Senhor de tudo o que existe.
TEXT 11:
Fools deride Me when I descend in the human form. They do not know My transcendental nature as the Supreme Lord of all that be.
VERSO 12:
Aqueles que estão assim perplexos deixam-se atrair por opiniões demoníacas e ateístas. Estando mergulhados nessa ilusão, suas esperanças de liberação, suas atividades fruitivas e seu cultivo de conhecimento são todos destroçados.
TEXT 12:
Those who are thus bewildered are attracted by demonic and atheistic views. In that deluded condition, their hopes for liberation, their fruitive activities, and their culture of knowledge are all defeated.
VERSO 13:
Ó filho de Pṛthā, aqueles que não se iludem, as grandes almas, estão sob a proteção da natureza divina. Eles se ocupam completamente em serviço devocional porque sabem que Eu sou a original e inexaurível Suprema Personalidade de Deus.
TEXT 13:
O son of Pṛthā, those who are not deluded, the great souls, are under the protection of the divine nature. They are fully engaged in devotional service because they know Me as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, original and inexhaustible.
VERSO 14:
Sempre cantando Minhas glórias, esforçando-se com muita determinação, prostrando-se diante de Mim, estas grandes almas adoram-Me perpetuamente com devoção.
TEXT 14:
Always chanting My glories, endeavoring with great determination, bowing down before Me, these great souls perpetually worship Me with devotion.
VERSO 15:
Outros, que se ocupam em sacrifício através do cultivo de conhecimento, adoram o Senhor Supremo como o único e inigualável, diversificado em muitos e na forma universal.
TEXT 15:
Others, who engage in sacrifice by the cultivation of knowledge, worship the Supreme Lord as the one without a second, as diverse in many, and in the universal form.
VERSO 16:
Mas Eu é que sou o ritual, sou o sacrifício, a oferenda aos ancestrais, a erva medicinal, o canto transcendental. Sou a manteiga, o fogo e a oferenda.
TEXT 16:
But it is I who am the ritual, I the sacrifice, the offering to the ancestors, the healing herb, the transcendental chant. I am the butter and the fire and the offering.
VERSO 17:
Eu sou o pai deste Universo, a mãe, o sustentáculo e o avô. Sou o objeto do conhecimento, o purificador e a sílaba oṁ. Também sou o Ṛg, o Sāma e o Yajur Vedas.
TEXT 17:
I am the father of this universe, the mother, the support and the grandsire. I am the object of knowledge, the purifier and the syllable oṁ. I am also the Ṛg, the Sāma and the Yajur Vedas.
VERSO 18:
Eu sou a meta, o sustentador, o senhor, a testemunha, a morada, o refúgio e o amigo mais querido. Sou a criação e a aniquilação, a base de tudo, o lugar onde se descansa e a semente eterna.
TEXT 18:
I am the goal, the sustainer, the master, the witness, the abode, the refuge and the most dear friend. I am the creation and the annihilation, the basis of everything, the resting place and the eternal seed.
VERSO 19:
Ó Arjuna, Eu forneço calor e retenho e envio a chuva. Eu sou a imortalidade e sou também a morte personificada. Tanto o espírito quanto a matéria estão em Mim.
TEXT 19:
O Arjuna, I give heat, and I withhold and send forth the rain. I am immortality, and I am also death personified. Both spirit and matter are in Me.
VERSO 20:
Aqueles que, buscando os planetas celestiais, estudam os Vedas e bebem o suco soma, adoram-Me indiretamente. Purificados de reações pecaminosas, eles nascem no piedoso planeta celestial de Indra, onde gozam de prazeres divinos.
TEXT 20:
Those who study the Vedas and drink the soma juice, seeking the heavenly planets, worship Me indirectly. Purified of sinful reactions, they take birth on the pious, heavenly planet of Indra, where they enjoy godly delights.
VERSO 21:
Após desfrutarem desse imenso prazer celestial dos sentidos e tendo se esgotado os resultados de suas atividades piedosas, eles regressam a este planeta mortal. Logo, aqueles que buscam o prazer dos sentidos sujeitando-se aos princípios dos três Vedas conseguem apenas repetidos nascimentos e mortes.
TEXT 21:
When they have thus enjoyed vast heavenly sense pleasure and the results of their pious activities are exhausted, they return to this mortal planet again. Thus those who seek sense enjoyment by adhering to the principles of the three Vedas achieve only repeated birth and death.
VERSO 22:
Mas aqueles que sempre Me adoram com devoção exclusiva, meditando em Minha forma transcendental — para eles eu trago o que lhes falta e preservo o que eles têm.
TEXT 22:
But those who always worship Me with exclusive devotion, meditating on My transcendental form – to them I carry what they lack, and I preserve what they have.
VERSO 23:
Aqueles que são devotos de outros deuses e que os adoram com fé na verdade adoram apenas a Mim, ó filho de Kuntī, mas não Me prestam a adoração correta.
TEXT 23:
Those who are devotees of other gods and who worship them with faith actually worship only Me, O son of Kuntī, but they do so in a wrong way.
VERSO 24:
Eu sou o único desfrutador e senhor de todos os sacrifícios. Portanto, aqueles que não reconhecem Minha verdadeira natureza transcendental acabam caindo.
TEXT 24:
I am the only enjoyer and master of all sacrifices. Therefore, those who do not recognize My true transcendental nature fall down.
VERSO 25:
Aqueles que adoram os semideuses nascerão entre os semideuses; aqueles que adoram os ancestrais irão ter com os ancestrais; aqueles que adoram os fantasmas e espíritos nascerão entre tais seres; e aqueles que Me adoram viverão comigo.
TEXT 25:
Those who worship the demigods will take birth among the demigods; those who worship the ancestors go to the ancestors; those who worship ghosts and spirits will take birth among such beings; and those who worship Me will live with Me.
VERSO 26:
Se alguém Me oferecer, com amor e devoção, uma folha, uma flor, frutas ou água, Eu as aceitarei.
TEXT 26:
If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water, I will accept it.
VERSO 27:
Tudo o que você fizer, tudo o que comer, tudo o que oferecer ou der para os outros, e quaisquer austeridades que você executar — faça isto, ó filho de Kuntī, como uma oferenda a Mim.
TEXT 27:
Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer or give away, and whatever austerities you perform – do that, O son of Kuntī, as an offering to Me.
VERSO 28:
Desse modo, você ficará livre do cativeiro do trabalho e de seus resultados auspiciosos e inauspiciosos. Com a mente fixa em Mim neste princípio de renúncia, você se libertará e virá a Mim.
TEXT 28:
In this way you will be freed from bondage to work and its auspicious and inauspicious results. With your mind fixed on Me in this principle of renunciation, you will be liberated and come to Me.
VERSO 29:
Não invejo ninguém, nem tampouco sou parcial com alguém. Sou igual para com todos. Porém, todo aquele que Me presta serviço com devoção é um amigo, e está em Mim, e Eu também sou seu amigo.
TEXT 29:
I envy no one, nor am I partial to anyone. I am equal to all. But whoever renders service unto Me in devotion is a friend, is in Me, and I am also a friend to him.
VERSO 30:
Mesmo que alguém cometa ações das mais abomináveis, se estiver ocupado no serviço devocional, deve ser considerado santo, porque está devidamente situado em sua determinação.
TEXT 30:
Even if one commits the most abominable action, if he is engaged in devotional service he is to be considered saintly because he is properly situated in his determination.
VERSO 31:
Ele logo se torna virtuoso e alcança a paz duradoura. Ó filho de Kuntī, declare ousadamente que o Meu devoto jamais perece.
TEXT 31:
He quickly becomes righteous and attains lasting peace. O son of Kuntī, declare it boldly that My devotee never perishes.
VERSO 32:
Ó filho de Pṛthā, todos os que se refugiam em Mim, mesmo que sejam de nascimento inferior ou as mulheres, os vaiśyas [comerciantes] ou os śūdras [trabalhadores braçais], podem alcançar o destino supremo.
TEXT 32:
O son of Pṛthā, those who take shelter in Me, though they be of lower birth – women, vaiśyas [merchants] and śūdras [workers] – can attain the supreme destination.
VERSO 33:
E o que dizer do destino dos brāhmaṇas virtuosos, dos devotos e dos reis santos. Portanto, como você veio a este mundo miserável e temporário, ocupe-se em prestar serviço amoroso a Mim.
TEXT 33:
How much more this is so of the righteous brāhmaṇas, the devotees and the saintly kings. Therefore, having come to this temporary, miserable world, engage in loving service unto Me.
VERSO 34:
Ocupe sua mente em pensar sempre em Mim, torne-se Meu devoto, ofereça-Me reverências e Me adore. Estando absorto por completo em Mim, com certeza você virá a Mim.
TEXT 34:
Engage your mind always in thinking of Me, become My devotee, offer obeisances to Me and worship Me. Being completely absorbed in Me, surely you will come to Me.
