sarva-guhyatamaṁ bhūyaḥ
śṛṇu me paramaṁ vacaḥ
iṣṭo ’si me dṛḍham iti
tato vakṣyāmi te hitam

Translation

Parce que tu es Mon ami très cher, Je vais te révéler Ma suprême instruction, la plus confidentielle. Écoute Mes paroles, car Je les dis pour ton bien.

Because you are My very dear friend, I am speaking to you My supreme instruction, the most confidential knowledge of all. Hear this from Me, for it is for your benefit.

Purport

Le Seigneur a révélé à Arjuna la connaissance intime du Brahman, puis celle plus intime encore de l’Âme Suprême sise dans le cœur de chacun. Maintenant, Il va lui révéler la part la plus secrète de ce savoir: le simple abandon à Dieu, la Personne Suprême. Au dernier verset du neuvième chapitre, Il disait: man-manā – « Emplis toujours de Moi tes pensées. » Il répète dans le verset qui suit la même instruction, pour bien insister sur le fait qu’il s’agit de l’essence même de la Bhagavad-gītā. Cette essence, l’homme ordinaire ne peut la saisir, alors que c’est chose aisée pour celui qui est très cher à Kṛṣṇa, pour le pur dévot. Cet enseignement est le plus important des enseignements dispensés dans l’ensemble des Écrits védiques. Ce que dit Kṛṣṇa ici constitue la part la plus essentielle du savoir et devrait être mis en pratique par tous les êtres, et non par Arjuna seulement.

The Lord has given Arjuna knowledge that is confidential (knowledge of Brahman) and still more confidential (knowledge of the Supersoul within everyone’s heart), and now He is giving the most confidential part of knowledge: just surrender unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead. At the end of the Ninth Chapter He has said, man-manāḥ: “Just always think of Me.” The same instruction is repeated here to stress the essence of the teachings of Bhagavad-gītā. This essence is not understood by a common man, but by one who is actually very dear to Kṛṣṇa, a pure devotee of Kṛṣṇa. This is the most important instruction in all Vedic literature. What Kṛṣṇa is saying in this connection is the most essential part of knowledge, and it should be carried out not only by Arjuna but by all living entities.
