Material opulence is so bewildering that it makes even a learned, self-controlled man forget to search for the goal of self-realization. But the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Nārāyaṇa, the Lord of the universe, can see everything by His will. Therefore I offer my respectful obeisances unto Him.
A opulência material desorienta tão fortemente que faz até mesmo um homem erudito e autocontrolado esquecer-se de buscar a meta da autorrealização. Mas, por Sua vontade, a Suprema Personalidade de Deus, Nārāyaṇa, o Senhor do universo, pode ver tudo. Portanto, ofereço-Lhe minhas respeitosas reverências.

Comentário
The words ko vicaṣṭe gatim ātmano yathā indicate that when one is puffed up by the false prestige of possessing material opulence, he certainly neglects the goal of self-realization. This is the position of the modern world. Because of so-called scientific improvements in material opulence, people have entirely given up the path of self-realization. Practically no one is interested in God, one’s relationship with God or how one should act. Modern men have altogether forgotten such questions because they are mad for material possessions. If this kind of civilization continues, the time will soon come when the Supreme Personality of Godhead will take away all the material opulences. Then people will come to their senses.
SIGNIFICADO—As palavras ko vicaṣṭe gatim ātmano yathā indicam que, quando alguém está envaidecido pelo falso prestígio porque possui opulências materiais, decerto negligencia a meta da autorrealização. Essa é a posição do mundo moderno. Devido aos supostos avanços científicos que trazem opulência material, as pessoas abandonaram por completo o caminho da autorrealização. Em termos práticos, ninguém está interessado em Deus, em seu relacionamento com Deus ou em como se deve agir. Os homens modernos esqueceram-se por completo dessas questões porque buscam por posses materiais como loucos. Se esta classe de civilização continuar, muito em breve chegará o tempo em que a Suprema Personalidade de Deus tirará todas as suas opulências materiais. Então, as pessoas voltarão à razão.
