Tradução

Translation

Quando Ajāmila mastigava o alimento e comia, ele chamava o filho para vir mastigar e comer, e quando ele bebia, chamava o filho para vir beber também. Sempre ocupado em cuidar do filho e pro­nunciar seu nome, Nārāyaṇa, Ajāmila não percebia que seu tempo estava para findar e que a morte pairava sobre ele.

When Ajāmila chewed food and ate it, he called the child to chew and eat, and when he drank he called the child to drink also. Always engaged in taking care of the child and calling his name, Nārāyaṇa, Ajāmila could not understand that his own time was now exhausted and that death was upon him.

Purport

SIGNIFICADO—A Suprema Personalidade de Deus é bondosa com a alma condicionada. Embora esse homem tivesse se esquecido de Nārāyaṇa por completo, ele sempre chamava por seu filho, dizendo: “Nārāyaṇa, por favor, venha comer este alimento. Nārāyaṇa, por favor, venha beber o leite.” Portanto, de alguma forma, ele estava apegado ao nome Nārāyaṇa. Isso se chama ajñāta-sukṛti. Embora estivesse chamando seu filho, inconscientemente estava pronunciando o nome de Nārāyaṇa, e o santo nome da Suprema Personalidade de Deus tem tamanha po­tência transcendental que o cantar desse homem estava sendo com­putado e registrado.

The Supreme Personality of Godhead is kind to the conditioned soul. Although this man completely forgot Nārāyaṇa, he was calling his child, saying, “Nārāyaṇa, please come eat this food. Nārāyaṇa, please come drink this milk.” Somehow or other, therefore, he was attached to the name Nārāyaṇa. This is called ajñāta-sukṛti. Although calling for his son, he was unknowingly chanting the name of Nārāyaṇa, and the holy name of the Supreme Personality of Godhead is so transcendentally powerful that his chanting was being counted and recorded.
