Translation
Meu querido rei Parīkṣit, quando Soma, o rei das árvores e a deidade que predomina a Lua, viu o fogo e o vento reduzindo todas as árvores a cinzas, sentiu muita compaixão porque é o mantenedor de todas as ervas e árvores. Para apaziguar a ira dos Pracetās, Soma falou o seguinte.
My dear King Parīkṣit, when Soma, the king of the trees and predominating deity of the moon, saw the fire and wind burning all the trees to ashes, he felt great sympathy because he is the maintainer of all herbs and trees. To appease the anger of the Pracetās, Soma spoke as follows.

SIGNIFICADO—Compreende-se por meio deste verso que a deidade que predomina a Lua é o mantenedor de todas as árvores e plantas do universo inteiro. É devido ao luar que as árvores e plantas crescem com grande exuberância. Portanto, como podemos concordar com os pretensos cientistas cujas expedições lunares nos informam que não existem árvores nem vegetação na Lua? Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura diz que somo vṛkṣādhiṣṭhātā sa eva vṛkṣāṇāṁ rājā: Soma, a deidade que predomina a Lua, é o rei de toda a vegetação. Como podemos aceitar que o mantenedor da vegetação não tenha vegetação em seu próprio planeta?
It is understood from this verse that the predominating deity of the moon is the maintainer of all the trees and plants throughout the universe. It is due to the moonshine that trees and plants grow very luxuriantly. Therefore how can we accept the so-called scientists whose moon expeditions have informed us that there are no trees or vegetation on the moon? Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura says, somo vṛkṣādhiṣṭhātā sa eva vṛkṣāṇāṁ rājā: Soma, the predominating deity of the moon, is the king of all vegetation. How can we believe that the maintainer of vegetation has no vegetation on his own planet?
