Lord Brahmā said: O Hiraṇyakaśipu, these benedictions for which you have asked are difficult to obtain for most men. Nonetheless, O my son, I shall grant you them although they are generally not available.
O senhor Brahmā disse: Ó Hiraṇyakaśipu, essas bênçãos que pediste são de difícil obtenção pela maior parte dos homens. Entretanto, ó meu filho, eu as concederei a ti, mesmo que, em geral, elas não sejam obteníveis.

Comentário
Material benedictions are not always exactly worthy of being called benedictions. If one possesses more and more, a benediction itself may become a curse, for just as achieving material opulence in this material world requires great strength and endeavor, maintaining it also requires great endeavor. Lord Brahmā informed Hiraṇyakaśipu that although he was ready to offer him whatever he had asked, the result of the benedictions would be very difficult for Hiraṇyakaśipu to maintain. Nonetheless, since Brahmā had promised, he wanted to grant all the benedictions asked. The word durlabhān indicates that one should not take benedictions one cannot enjoy peacefully.
SIGNIFICADO—Nem sempre as bênçãos materiais são dignas de serem chamadas de bênçãos. Se alguém acumula cada vez mais riquezas, a própria bênção pode tornar-se uma maldição, pois, assim como para alcançar opulência material neste mundo é preciso grande força e esforço, mantê-la também requer muito esforço. O senhor Brahmā informou a Hiraṇyakaśipu que, embora estivesse disposto a lhe oferecer tudo o que este pedira, Hiraṇyakaśipu teria muita dificuldade de manter o resultado das bênçãos. Entretanto, como havia prometido, o senhor Brahmā queria conceder todas as bênçãos pedidas. A palavra durlabhān indica que ninguém deve buscar receber bênçãos de que não possa desfrutar pacificamente.
