Translation

Tradução

Although all the other serpents were dutifully making offerings to Garuḍa, one serpent — the arrogant Kāliya, son of Kadru — would eat all these offerings before Garuḍa could claim them. Thus Kāliya directly defied the carrier of Lord Viṣṇu.

Embora todas as outras serpentes fizessem as oferendas a Garuḍa no devido tempo, uma serpente – o arrogante Kāliya, filho de Kadru – comia todas essas oferendas antes que Garuḍa pudesse reivindicá-las. Assim, Kāliya desafiou diretamente o transportador do Senhor Viṣṇu.
