adrākṣam aham etaṁ te
hṛt-sāraṁ mahad-adbhutam
daṁśa-bhakṣita-dehasya
prāṇā hy asthiṣu śerate

Translation

Fiquei muito atônito de ver a tua pertinácia. Apesar de comido e ferido por toda classe de vermes e formigas, manténs o teu ar vital circulando em teus ossos. É certo que isso é admirável.

I have been very much astonished to see your endurance. In spite of being eaten and bitten by all kinds of worms and ants, you are keeping your life air circulating within your bones. Certainly this is wonderful.

SIGNIFICADO—Parece que a alma pode existir mesmo nos ossos, como mostra o exemplo pessoal de Hiraṇyakaśipu. Quando grandes yogīs estão em samādhi, mesmo que seus corpos fiquem enterrados, e sua pele, medula, sangue e outros elementos orgânicos forem todos consumidos, eles podem existir em uma posição transcendental se restarem ao menos os seus ossos. Muito recentemente, um arqueólogo publicou descobertas indicando que o Senhor Cristo, após ser enterrado, foi exumado e que, depois disso, foi para Kashmir. Há muitos exemplos reais de yogīs que foram enterrados em transe e que, várias horas mais tarde, foram tirados das sepulturas vivos e em boa condição. O yogī pode manter-se vivo em um estado transcendental mesmo que permaneça enterrado não apenas por muitos dias, mas por muitos anos.

It appears that the soul can exist even through the bones, as shown by the personal example of Hiraṇyakaśipu. When great yogīs are in samādhi, even when their bodies are buried and their skin, marrow, blood and so on have all been eaten, if only their bones remain they can exist in a transcendental position. Very recently an archaeologist published findings indicating that Lord Christ, after being buried, was exhumed and that he then went to Kashmir. There have been many actual examples of yogīs’ being buried in trance and exhumed alive and in good condition several hours later. A yogī can keep himself alive in a transcendental state even if buried not only for many days but for many years.
