Tradução
When the earth saw that King Pṛthu was taking his bow and arrow to kill her, she became very much afraid and began to tremble. She then began to flee, exactly like a deer, which runs very swiftly when followed by a hunter. Being afraid of King Pṛthu, she took the shape of a cow and began to run.
Ao ver o rei Pṛthu pegando seu arco e flecha para matá-la, a Terra ficou muito amedrontada e começou a tremer. Colocou-se, então, a fugir, exatamente como um veado que corre muito velozmente ao ser perseguido por um caçador. Com medo do rei Pṛthu, ela assumiu a forma de uma vaca e começou a correr.

Comentário
Just as a mother produces various children, both male and female, the womb of mother earth produces all kinds of living entities in various shapes. Thus it is possible for mother earth to take on innumerable shapes. At this time, in order to avoid the wrath of King Pṛthu, she took the shape of a cow. Since a cow is never to be killed, mother earth thought it wise to take the shape of a cow in order to avoid King Pṛthu’s arrows. King Pṛthu, however, could understand this fact, and therefore he did not stop chasing the cow-shaped earth.
SIGNIFICADO—Assim como a mãe gera vários filhos, tanto meninos quanto meninas, o ventre da mãe Terra produz todas as classes de entidades vivas em várias formas. Assim, é possível que a mãe Terra assuma inúmeras formas. Naquele momento, a fim de evitar a ira do rei Pṛthu, ela assumiu a forma de uma vaca. Uma vez que jamais se deve matar uma vaca, a mãe Terra julgou prudente assumir a forma de uma vaca a fim de evitar as flechas do rei Pṛthu. O rei Pṛthu, contudo, pôde entender este fato, e por isso não parou de perseguir a Terra sob a forma de uma vaca.
