Tradução

When people in this world perform activities, sometimes they understand what they are doing and sometimes they don’t. Those who know what they are doing achieve success in their work, whereas ignorant people do not.

Quando as pessoas neste mundo realizam atividades, por vezes compreendem o que estão fazendo, por vezes não compreendem. Aqueles que sabem o que estão fazendo alcançam sucesso em seu traba­lho, ao passo que os ignorantes não têm o mesmo resultado.

Comentário

The Lord here informs His father that people should perform a particular ceremony or activity only after thoroughly understanding it through discussion with friends. We should not be blind followers of tradition. If a person doesn’t even know what he’s doing, how can he be successful in his work? This, essentially, is the Lord’s argument in this verse. Since Śrī Kṛṣṇa, as the young child of Nanda, would naturally be expected to show enthusiasm for His father’s religious activities, it was the father’s duty to give the son a thorough explanation of the ceremony.

SIGNIFICADO—O Senhor informa a Seu pai neste verso que se deve executar uma cerimônia ou atividade específica apenas depois de compreendê-la por completo mediante discussão com os amigos. Não devemos ser seguido­res cegos da tradição. Se alguém nem mesmo sabe o que está fazendo, como poderá ter sucesso em seu empenho? Este é, em essência, o argumento do Senhor nesta passagem. Visto que seria natural esperar que Śrī Kṛṣṇa, como jovem filho de Nanda, mostrasse entusiasmo pelas atividades religiosas de Seu pai, era dever deste dar-Lhe uma explicação completa da cerimônia.
