ŚB 12.12.20

कौर्मं मात्स्यं नारसिंहं वामनं च जगत्पते: ।
क्षीरोदमथनं तद्वदमृतार्थे दिवौकसाम् ॥ २० ॥
kaurmaṁ mātsyaṁ nārasiṁhaṁ
vāmanaṁ ca jagat-pateḥ
kṣīroda-mathanaṁ tadvad
amṛtārthe divaukasām

Synonyms

kaurmamthe incarnation as a tortoise; mātsyamas a fish; nārasiṁhamas a man-lion; vāmanamas a dwarf; caand; jagat-pateḥof the Lord of the universe; kṣīra-udaof the Ocean of Milk; mathanamthe churning; tadvatthus; amṛta-arthefor the sake of nectar; diva-okasāmon the part of the inhabitants of heaven.

Translation

The Bhāgavatam also tells of the appearances of the Lord of the universe as Kūrma, Matsya, Narasiṁha and Vāmana, and of the demigods’ churning of the Milk Ocean to obtain nectar.
