tatas tvām abhidhāsyanti
nāmnā rudra iti prajāḥ

yat — tanto quanto; arodīḥ — choraste alto; sura-śreṣṭha — ó principal entre os semideuses; sa — udvegaḥ – com grande ansiedade; iva — como; bālakaḥ — um menino; tataḥ — portanto; tvām — tu; abhidhāsyanti — chamarão; nāmnā — pelo nome; rudraḥ — Rudra; iti — assim; prajāḥ — pessoas.

Translation

Tradução

Thereafter Brahmā said: O chief of the demigods, you shall be called by the name Rudra by all people because you have so anxiously cried.

Em seguida, Brahmā disse: Ó principal entre os semideuses, serás chamado Rudra por todas as pessoas porque choraste com tanta ansiedade.
