After drinking the water, Lord Caitanya became so ecstatic that He began to dance. Thus everyone saw the pastime of attracting the river Yamunā.

Após beber a água, o Senhor Caitanya ficou tão extático que começou a dançar. Assim, todos viram o passatempo de atrair o rio Yamunā.

Yamunākarṣaṇa-līlā is the pastime of attracting the Yamunā. One day, Śrī Baladeva wanted the Yamunā River to come before Him, and when the river Yamunā refused, He took His plow, wanting to dig a canal so that the Yamunā would be obliged to come there. Since Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu is the original form of Baladeva, in His ecstasy He asked everyone to bring honey. In this way, all the devotees standing there saw the yamunākarṣaṇa-līlā. In this līlā, Baladeva was accompanied by His girlfriends. After drinking a honey beverage called Vāruṇī, He wanted to jump into the Yamunā and swim with the girls. It is stated in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (10.65.25-30, 33) that Lord Baladeva asked the Yamunā to come near, and when the river disobeyed the order of the Lord, He became angry and thus wanted to snatch her near to Him with His plow. The Yamunā, however, very much afraid of Lord Balarāma’s anger, immediately came and surrendered unto Him, praying to the Lord, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and admitting her fault. She was then excused. This is the sum and substance of the yamunākarṣaṇa-līlā. The incident is also described in the prayer of Jayadeva Gosvāmī concerning the ten incarnations:

SIGNIFICADO—Yamunākarṣaṇa-līlā é o passatempo de atrair o Yamunā. Um dia, Śrī Baladeva desejou que o rio Yamunā fosse perante Ele, e, quando o rio Yamunā se recusou a isso, Ele pegou Seu arado, ameaçando cavar um canal para que o Yamunā fosse obrigado a se aproximar. Uma vez que Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu é a forma original de Baladeva, em Seu êxtase, Ele pediu a todos que trouxessem mel. Dessa maneira, todos os devotos ali presentes viram a yamunākarṣaṇa-līlā. Nesta līlā, as namoradas de Baladeva O acompanhavam. Após ingerir uma bebida feita de mel, chamada vāruṇī, Ele desejou mergulhar no Yamunā e nadar com as mocinhas. Afirma-se no Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (10.65.25-30,33) que o Senhor Baladeva pediu que o Yamunā se aproximasse, e, quando o rio desobedeceu à ordem do Senhor, Ele ficou irado e, então, quis arrastá-lo com Seu arado para perto dEle. Entretanto, com muito temor da ira do Senhor Balarāma, o Yamunā foi até Ele de imediato e se rendeu-se, orando ao Senhor, a Suprema Personalidade de Deus, e admitindo seu erro. Então, foi perdoado. Essa é a essência da yamunākarṣaṇa-līlā. Na oração de Jayadeva Gosvāmī relativa às dez encarnações, também se descreve esse episódio:
