O best of the Bhāratas, I shall now explain to you the different times at which, passing away from this world, the yogī does or does not come back.

¡Oh, tú, el mejor de los Bhāratas!, ahora te voy a explicar los diferentes momentos en los que, cuando el yogī se va de este mundo, regresa a él o no regresa.

Significado

The unalloyed devotees of the Supreme Lord, who are totally surrendered souls, do not care when they leave their bodies or by what method. They leave everything in Kṛṣṇa’s hands and so easily and happily return to Godhead. But those who are not unalloyed devotees and who depend instead on such methods of spiritual realization as karma-yoga, jñāna-yoga and haṭha-yoga must leave the body at a suitable time in order to be sure of whether or not they will return to the world of birth and death.

A los devotos puros del Señor Supremo, quienes son almas totalmente entregadas, no les importa cuándo van a abandonar sus cuerpos ni con qué método. Ellos dejan todo en manos de Kṛṣṇa, y de ese modo regresan a Dios fácil y felizmente. Pero aquellos que no son devotos puros, y que dependen más bien de métodos de iluminación espiritual tales como el karma-yoga, el jñāna-yoga y el haṭha-yoga, deben abandonar el cuerpo en un momento adecuado, y así estar seguros de si van o no a regresar al mundo del nacimiento y la muerte.

If the yogī is perfect he can select the time and situation for leaving this material world. But if he is not so expert his success depends on his accidentally passing away at a certain suitable time. The suitable times at which one passes away and does not come back are explained by the Lord in the next verse. According to Ācārya Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa, the Sanskrit word kāla used herein refers to the presiding deity of time.

Si el yogī es perfecto, puede elegir el momento y la situación en la que quiere encontrarse al irse de este mundo material. Pero si no es tan perfecto, su éxito depende entonces de que accidentalmente se vaya en un determinado momento que sea adecuado. El Señor explica en el siguiente verso cuáles son los momentos adecuados para irse y no regresar. Según el ācārya Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa, la palabra sánscrita kāla que se usa aquí, se refiere a la deidad regente del tiempo.
