та̄масо бхӯта-сӯкшма̄дир
йатах̣ кхам̇ лин̇гам а̄тманах̣
tāmaso bhūta-sūkṣmādir
yataḥ khaṁ liṅgam ātmanaḥ

та̄масах̣ — из гуны невежества; бхӯта-сӯкшма-а̄дих̣ — объекты тонких чувств; йатах̣ — из которых; кхам — небо; лин̇гам — символический образ; а̄тманах̣ — Высшей Души.

Translation

Небо возникает из звука, а сам звук появляется в результате соединения ложного эго и гуны невежества. Иными словами, небо — это символ Высшей Души.

The sky is a product of sound, and sound is the transformation of egoistic ignorance. In other words, the sky is the symbolic representation of the Supreme Soul.

Purport

В ведических гимнах сказано: этасма̄д а̄тманах̣ а̄ка̄ш́ах̣ самбхӯтах̣. Небо — это символ Высшей Души. Те, чье эго находится под влиянием страсти и невежества, не способны постичь Личность Бога. Для них символом Высшей Души является небо.

In the Vedic hymns it is said, etasmād ātmanaḥ ākāśaḥ sambhūtaḥ. The sky is the symbolic representation of the Supreme Soul. Those who are egoistic in passion and ignorance cannot conceive of the Personality of Godhead. For them the sky is the symbolic representation of the Supreme Soul.
