O Conhecimento Transcendental

Transcendental Knowledge

VERSO 1:
A Personalidade de Deus, o Senhor Śrī Kṛṣṇa, disse: Ensinei esta imperecível ciência da yoga ao deus do Sol, Vivasvān, e Vivasvān ensinou-a a Manu, o pai da humanidade, e Manu, por sua vez, ensinou-a a Ikṣvāku.
TEXT 1:
The Personality of Godhead, Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, said: I instructed this imperishable science of yoga to the sun-god, Vivasvān, and Vivasvān instructed it to Manu, the father of mankind, and Manu in turn instructed it to Ikṣvāku.
VERSO 2:
Esta ciência suprema foi assim recebida através da corrente de sucessão discipular, e os reis santos compreenderam-na desta maneira. Porém, com o passar do tempo, a sucessão foi interrompida, e portanto a ciência como ela é parece ter-se perdido.
TEXT 2:
This supreme science was thus received through the chain of disciplic succession, and the saintly kings understood it in that way. But in course of time the succession was broken, and therefore the science as it is appears to be lost.
VERSO 3:
Esta antiquíssima ciência da relação com o Supremo é falada hoje a você por Mim porque você é Meu devoto bem como Meu amigo e pode portanto entender o mistério transcendental que há nesta ciência.
TEXT 3:
That very ancient science of the relationship with the Supreme is today told by Me to you because you are My devotee as well as My friend and can therefore understand the transcendental mystery of this science.
VERSO 4:
Arjuna disse: O deus do Sol, Vivasvān, nasceu antes de Você. Como poderei entender que, no começo, Você lhe ensinou esta ciência?
TEXT 4:
Arjuna said: The sun-god Vivasvān is senior by birth to You. How am I to understand that in the beginning You instructed this science to him?
VERSO 5:
A Personalidade de Deus disse: Tanto você quanto Eu já passamos por muitos e muitos nascimentos. Posso lembrar-Me de todos eles, porém, você não pode, ó subjugador do inimigo!
TEXT 5:
The Personality of Godhead said: Many, many births both you and I have passed. I can remember all of them, but you cannot, O subduer of the enemy!
VERSO 6:
Embora Eu seja não nascido e Meu corpo transcendental jamais se deteriore, e embora Eu seja o Senhor de todas as entidades vivas, mesmo assim, em cada milênio Eu apareço em Minha forma transcendental original.
TEXT 6:
Although I am unborn and My transcendental body never deteriorates, and although I am the Lord of all living entities, I still appear in every millennium in My original transcendental form.
VERSO 7:
Sempre e onde quer que haja um declínio na prática religiosa, ó descendente de Bharata, e uma ascensão predominante de irreligião — aí então Eu próprio descendo.
TEXT 7:
Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion – at that time I descend Myself.
VERSO 8:
Para libertar os piedosos e aniquilar os descrentes, bem como para restabelecer os princípios da religião, Eu mesmo venho, milênio após milênio.
TEXT 8:
To deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I Myself appear, millennium after millennium.
VERSO 9:
Aquele que conhece a natureza transcendental do Meu aparecimento e atividades, ao deixar o corpo não volta a nascer neste mundo material, mas alcança Minha morada eterna, ó Arjuna.
TEXT 9:
One who knows the transcendental nature of My appearance and activities does not, upon leaving the body, take his birth again in this material world, but attains My eternal abode, O Arjuna.
VERSO 10:
Estando livres do apego, do medo e da ira, estando plenamente absortas em Mim e refugiando-se em Mim, muitas e muitas pessoas no passado purificaram-se através do conhecimento a Meu respeito — e com isso todas alcançaram amor transcendental por Mim.
TEXT 10:
Being freed from attachment, fear and anger, being fully absorbed in Me and taking refuge in Me, many, many persons in the past became purified by knowledge of Me – and thus they all attained transcendental love for Me.
VERSO 11:
A todos os que se rendem a Mim, Eu recompenso proporcionalmente. Todos seguem o Meu caminho sob todos os aspectos, ó filho de Pṛthā.
TEXT 11:
As all surrender unto Me, I reward them accordingly. Everyone follows My path in all respects, O son of Pṛthā.
VERSO 12:
Os homens deste mundo desejam sucesso nas atividades fruitivas, e por isso adoram os semideuses. É claro que os homens obtêm rapidamente os resultados do trabalho fruitivo neste mundo.
TEXT 12:
Men in this world desire success in fruitive activities, and therefore they worship the demigods. Quickly, of course, men get results from fruitive work in this world.
VERSO 13:
Conforme os três modos da natureza material e o trabalho atribuído a eles, as quatro divisões da sociedade humana são criadas por Mim. E apesar de ser o criador deste sistema, você deve saber que Eu continuo sendo aquele que não age, sendo imutável.
TEXT 13:
According to the three modes of material nature and the work associated with them, the four divisions of human society are created by Me. And although I am the creator of this system, you should know that I am yet the nondoer, being unchangeable.
VERSO 14:
Não há trabalho que Me afete, tampouco Eu aspiro aos frutos da ação. Aquele que entende esta verdade sobre Mim também não se enreda nas reações do trabalho fruitivo.
TEXT 14:
There is no work that affects Me; nor do I aspire for the fruits of action. One who understands this truth about Me also does not become entangled in the fruitive reactions of work.
VERSO 15:
Nos tempos antigos, todas as almas liberadas agiram com esta compreensão acerca da Minha natureza transcendental. Portanto, você deve executar o seu dever, seguindo-lhes os passos.
TEXT 15:
All the liberated souls in ancient times acted with this understanding of My transcendental nature. Therefore you should perform your duty, following in their footsteps.
VERSO 16:
Até mesmo os inteligentes ficam confusos em determinar o que é ação e o que é inação. Agora, passarei a explicar-lhe o que é ação, e conhecendo isto você se libertará de todo o infortúnio.
TEXT 16:
Even the intelligent are bewildered in determining what is action and what is inaction. Now I shall explain to you what action is, knowing which you shall be liberated from all misfortune.
VERSO 17:
É dificílimo entender as complexidades da ação. Portanto, deve-se saber exatamente o que é ação, o que é ação proibida e o que é inação.
TEXT 17:
The intricacies of action are very hard to understand. Therefore one should know properly what action is, what forbidden action is and what inaction is.
VERSO 18:
Quem vê inação na ação, e ação na inação, é inteligente entre os homens, e está na posição transcendental, embora ocupado em todas as espécies de atividades.
TEXT 18:
One who sees inaction in action and action in inaction is intelligent among men, and he is in the transcendental position, although engaged in all sorts of activities.
VERSO 19:
É considerado em conhecimento pleno aquele cujos atos estão desprovidos do desejo de satisfação dos sentidos. Os sábios dizem que tal pessoa é um trabalhador cujas reações do trabalho foram queimadas pelo fogo do conhecimento perfeito.
TEXT 19:
One is understood to be in full knowledge whose every endeavor is devoid of desire for sense gratification. He is said by sages to be a worker for whom the reactions of work have been burned up by the fire of perfect knowledge.
VERSO 20:
Abandonando todo o apego aos resultados de suas atividades, sempre satisfeito e independente, ele não executa nenhuma ação fruitiva, embora ocupado em vários tipos de empreendimentos.
TEXT 20:
Abandoning all attachment to the results of his activities, ever satisfied and independent, he performs no fruitive action, although engaged in all kinds of undertakings.
VERSO 21:
Tal homem de compreensão age com a mente e a inteligência sob controle perfeito, e deixa de ter qualquer sentimento de propriedade por suas posses e age apenas para obter as necessidades mínimas da vida. Trabalhando assim, ele não é afetado por reações pecaminosas.
TEXT 21:
Such a man of understanding acts with mind and intelligence perfectly controlled, gives up all sense of proprietorship over his possessions and acts only for the bare necessities of life. Thus working, he is not affected by sinful reactions.
VERSO 22:
Aquele que se contenta com o ganho que vem automaticamente, que está livre da dualidade e que não inveja, que é estável tanto no sucesso quanto no fracasso, nunca se enreda, embora execute ações.
TEXT 22:
He who is satisfied with gain which comes of its own accord, who is free from duality and does not envy, who is steady in both success and failure, is never entangled, although performing actions.
VERSO 23:
O trabalho do homem que não está apegado aos modos da natureza material e que está situado em pleno conhecimento transcendental funde-se por completo na transcendência.
TEXT 23:
The work of a man who is unattached to the modes of material nature and who is fully situated in transcendental knowledge merges entirely into transcendence.
VERSO 24:
Quem se absorve por completo em consciência de Kṛṣṇa com certeza alcançará o reino espiritual devido à sua contribuição plena às atividades espirituais, na qual a execução é absoluta, e nelas, tudo o que se oferece é da mesma natureza espiritual.
TEXT 24:
A person who is fully absorbed in Kṛṣṇa consciousness is sure to attain the spiritual kingdom because of his full contribution to spiritual activities, in which the consummation is absolute and that which is offered is of the same spiritual nature.
VERSO 25:
Alguns yogīs adoram os semideuses com perfeição, oferecendo-lhes diferentes sacrifícios, e alguns oferecem sacrifícios no fogo do Brahman Supremo.
TEXT 25:
Some yogīs perfectly worship the demigods by offering different sacrifices to them, and some offer sacrifices in the fire of the Supreme Brahman.
VERSO 26:
Alguns [os brahmacārīs controlados] sacrificam a faculdade auditiva e os sentidos no fogo do controle mental; e outros [os chefes de família regulados] sacrificam os objetos dos sentidos no fogo dos sentidos.
TEXT 26:
Some [the unadulterated brahmacārīs] sacrifice the hearing process and the senses in the fire of mental control, and others [the regulated householders] sacrifice the objects of the senses in the fire of the senses.
VERSO 27:
Outros, que se interessam em obter a auto-realização através do controle da mente e dos sentidos, oferecem as funções de todos os sentidos e a do alento vital como oblações no fogo da mente controlada.
TEXT 27:
Others, who are interested in achieving self-realization through control of the mind and senses, offer the functions of all the senses, and of the life breath, as oblations into the fire of the controlled mind.
VERSO 28:
Tendo aceito votos estritos, alguns se iluminam sacrificando os seus bens, e outros, executam austeridades rigorosas, uns praticam a yoga do misticismo óctuplo, e outros estudam os Vedas para progredir no conhecimento transcendental.
TEXT 28:
Having accepted strict vows, some become enlightened by sacrificing their possessions, and others by performing severe austerities, by practicing the yoga of eightfold mysticism, or by studying the Vedas to advance in transcendental knowledge.
VERSO 29:
Há ainda outros, que estão inclinados ao processo de restrição da respiração para permanecer em transe, eles praticam oferecendo o movimento do alento expirado ao do alento inspirado, e o alento inspirado ao alento expirado, e assim acabam entrando em transe, suspendendo toda a respiração. Outros, restringindo o processo alimentar, oferecem o alento expirado em sacrifício a este mesmo alento.
TEXT 29:
Still others, who are inclined to the process of breath restraint to remain in trance, practice by offering the movement of the outgoing breath into the incoming, and the incoming breath into the outgoing, and thus at last remain in trance, stopping all breathing. Others, curtailing the eating process, offer the outgoing breath into itself as a sacrifice.
VERSO 30:
Todos estes executores que sabem o significado do sacrifício purificam-se das reações pecaminosas, e, tendo saboreado o néctar dos resultados dos sacrifícios, eles avançam em direção à atmosfera eterna e suprema.
TEXT 30:
All these performers who know the meaning of sacrifice become cleansed of sinful reactions, and, having tasted the nectar of the results of sacrifices, they advance toward the supreme eternal atmosphere.
VERSO 31:
Ó melhor da dinastia Kuru, sem sacrifício a pessoa jamais pode viver feliz neste planeta ou nesta vida; e o que dizer então da próxima?
TEXT 31:
O best of the Kuru dynasty, without sacrifice one can never live happily on this planet or in this life: what then of the next?
VERSO 32:
Todos esses diferentes tipos de sacrifício aprovados pelos Vedas surgem dos diferentes tipos de trabalho. Conhecendo-os como tal, você se tornará liberado.
TEXT 32:
All these different types of sacrifice are approved by the Vedas, and all of them are born of different types of work. Knowing them as such, you will become liberated.
VERSO 33:
Ó castigador do inimigo, o sacrifício executado com conhecimento é melhor do que o mero sacrifício dos bens materiais. Afinal de contas, ó filho de Pṛthā, todos os sacrifícios do trabalho culminam em conhecimento transcendental.
TEXT 33:
O chastiser of the enemy, the sacrifice performed in knowledge is better than the mere sacrifice of material possessions. After all, O son of Pṛthā, all sacrifices of work culminate in transcendental knowledge.
VERSO 34:
Tente aprender a verdade aproximando-se de um mestre espiritual. Faça-lhe perguntas com submissão e preste-lhe serviço. As almas auto-realizadas podem lhe transmitir conhecimento porque elas são videntes da verdade.
TEXT 34:
Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-realized souls can impart knowledge unto you because they have seen the truth.
VERSO 35:
Tendo recebido verdadeiro conhecimento de uma alma auto-realizada, você jamais voltará a cair nesta ilusão, pois, com este conhecimento você verá que todos os seres vivos são nada mais do que partes do Supremo, ou, em outras palavras, que eles são Meus.
TEXT 35:
Having obtained real knowledge from a self-realized soul, you will never fall again into such illusion, for by this knowledge you will see that all living beings are but part of the Supreme, or, in other words, that they are Mine.
VERSO 36:
Mesmo que você seja considerado o mais pecaminoso de todos os pecadores, quando estiver situado no barco do conhecimento transcendental será capaz de cruzar o oceano de misérias.
TEXT 36:
Even if you are considered to be the most sinful of all sinners, when you are situated in the boat of transcendental knowledge you will be able to cross over the ocean of miseries.
VERSO 37:
Assim como o fogo ardente transforma a lenha em cinzas, ó Arjuna, do mesmo modo, o fogo do conhecimento reduz a cinzas todas as reações às atividades materiais.
TEXT 37:
As a blazing fire turns firewood to ashes, O Arjuna, so does the fire of knowledge burn to ashes all reactions to material activities.
VERSO 38:
Neste mundo, não há nada tão sublime e puro como o conhecimento transcendental. Este conhecimento é o fruto maduro de todo o misticismo. E aquele que se familiarizou com a prática do serviço devocional desfruta deste conhecimento dentro de si no devido tempo.
TEXT 38:
In this world, there is nothing so sublime and pure as transcendental knowledge. Such knowledge is the mature fruit of all mysticism. And one who has become accomplished in the practice of devotional service enjoys this knowledge within himself in due course of time.
VERSO 39:
Um homem fiel que se dedica ao conhecimento transcendental e que subjuga seus sentidos está qualificado a obter tal conhecimento, e, tendo-o alcançado, ele atinge rapidamente a paz espiritual suprema.
TEXT 39:
A faithful man who is dedicated to transcendental knowledge and who subdues his senses is eligible to achieve such knowledge, and having achieved it he quickly attains the supreme spiritual peace.
VERSO 40:
Mas as pessoas ignorantes e sem fé, que duvidam das escrituras reveladas, não alcançam a consciência de Deus; elas acabam caindo. Para a alma em dúvida não há felicidade nem neste mundo nem no próximo.
TEXT 40:
But ignorant and faithless persons who doubt the revealed scriptures do not attain God consciousness; they fall down. For the doubting soul there is happiness neither in this world nor in the next.
VERSO 41:
Aquele que age em serviço devocional, renunciando aos frutos de suas ações, e cujas dúvidas foram destruídas pelo conhecimento transcendental, está de fato situado no eu. Assim, ele não está atado às reações do trabalho, ó conquistador de riquezas.
TEXT 41:
One who acts in devotional service, renouncing the fruits of his actions, and whose doubts have been destroyed by transcendental knowledge, is situated factually in the self. Thus he is not bound by the reactions of work, O conqueror of riches.
VERSO 42:
Portanto, as dúvidas que, por ignorância, surgiram em seu coração devem ser cortadas com a arma do conhecimento. Armado com a yoga, ó Bhārata, levante-se e lute.
TEXT 42:
Therefore the doubts which have arisen in your heart out of ignorance should be slashed by the weapon of knowledge. Armed with yoga, O Bhārata, stand and fight.
