guhyād guhya-taraṁ mayā
vimṛśyaitad aśeṣeṇa
yathecchasi tathā kuru

Zo heb Ik je dan kennis gegeven die nog vertrouwelijker is. Overweeg dit alles grondig en doe dan wat je wilt.

Thus I have explained to you knowledge still more confidential. Deliberate on this fully, and then do what you wish to do.

De Heer heeft de kennis over brahma-bhūta al aan Arjuna uitgelegd. Iemand in de toestand van brahma-bhūta is vol vreugde; hij klaagt nooit en verlangt evenmin naar iets. Dit is het gevolg van vertrouwelijke kennis. Kṛṣṇa onthult ook kennis over de Superziel. Dit is ook kennis over Brahman, maar dan van een hoger niveau.

The Lord has already explained to Arjuna the knowledge of brahma-bhūta. One who is in the brahma-bhūta condition is joyful; he never laments, nor does he desire anything. That is due to confidential knowledge. Kṛṣṇa also discloses knowledge of the Supersoul. This is also Brahman knowledge, knowledge of Brahman, but it is superior.

De woorden ‘yathecchasi tathā kuru’ — ‘Je kunt doen wat je wilt’ — verwijzen hier naar het feit dat God het beetje onafhankelijkheid van het levend wezen niet in de weg zal staan. In de Bhagavad-gītā heeft de Heer in alle opzichten uitgelegd hoe men zijn levenssituatie kan verbeteren. Het beste advies dat Arjuna kreeg, is om zich over te geven aan de Superziel, die in zijn hart aanwezig is. Wie zijn verstand goed gebruikt zou tot het punt moeten komen waarop hij ermee instemt te handelen volgens de aanwijzingen van de Superziel. Dat zal helpen om voortdurend Kṛṣṇa-bewust te zijn, wat het hoogste en perfecte niveau van het menselijk leven is.

Arjuna kreeg rechtstreeks van de Allerhoogste Persoonlijkheid Gods de opdracht om te strijden. Het is in het allerhoogste belang van de levende wezens om zich aan de Allerhoogste Persoonlijkheid Gods over te geven; het is niet in het belang van de Allerhoogste. Voordat men zich overgeeft, is men vrij om dit alles te overwegen voor zover zijn intelligentie reikt; dat is de beste manier om de instructie van de Allerhoogste Persoonlijkheid Gods te aanvaarden. Deze instructie wordt ook via de spiritueel leraar gegeven, die een bonafide vertegenwoordiger van Kṛṣṇa is.

Here the words yathecchasi tathā kuru – “As you like, you may act” – indicate that God does not interfere with the little independence of the living entity. In Bhagavad-gītā, the Lord has explained in all respects how one can elevate his living condition. The best advice imparted to Arjuna is to surrender unto the Supersoul seated within his heart. By right discrimination, one should agree to act according to the order of the Supersoul. That will help one become situated constantly in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, the highest perfectional stage of human life. Arjuna is being directly ordered by the Personality of Godhead to fight. Surrender to the Supreme Personality of Godhead is in the best interest of the living entities. It is not for the interest of the Supreme. Before surrendering, one is free to deliberate on this subject as far as the intelligence goes; that is the best way to accept the instruction of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Such instruction comes also through the spiritual master, the bona fide representative of Kṛṣṇa.
