Translation

Het stralende licht van de zon, dat de duisternis van deze hele wereld verdrijft, komt van Mij. En de maneschijn en de gloed van vuur komen ook van Mij.

The splendor of the sun, which dissipates the darkness of this whole world, comes from Me. And the splendor of the moon and the splendor of fire are also from Me.

Zij die geen intelligentie hebben, kunnen niet begrijpen hoe dingen plaatsvinden. Maar men kan een begin maken met het ontwikkelen van kennis door te begrijpen wat de Heer hier uitlegt. Iedereen ziet de zon, maan, vuur en elektriciteit. Men moet eenvoudig proberen te begrijpen dat het stralende licht van zon, maan en elektriciteit of vuur afkomstig zijn van de Allerhoogste Persoonlijkheid Gods. Wanneer iemand zo’n levensopvatting heeft, die het begin van Kṛṣṇa-bewustzijn is, dan is dat voor de geconditioneerde ziel in de materiële wereld een grote vooruitgang. In essentie zijn de levende wezens de integrerende deeltjes van de Allerhoogste Heer en Hij geeft hier een aanwijzing hoe ze terug kunnen gaan naar de Allerhoogste God, terug naar huis.

The unintelligent cannot understand how things are taking place. But one can begin to be established in knowledge by understanding what the Lord explains here. Everyone sees the sun, moon, fire and electricity. One should simply try to understand that the splendor of the sun, the splendor of the moon, and the splendor of electricity or fire are coming from the Supreme Personality of Godhead. In such a conception of life, the beginning of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, lies a great deal of advancement for the conditioned soul in this material world. The living entities are essentially the parts and parcels of the Supreme Lord, and He is giving herewith the hint how they can come back to Godhead, back to home.

Uit dit vers kunnen we begrijpen dat de zon het hele universum verlicht. Er bestaan verschillende universa en verschillende zonnen en manen, maar uit dit vers wordt duidelijk dat er in ieder universum maar īīn zon is. Zo zegt de Bhagavad-gītā (10.21) dat de maan een van de sterren is (nakṣatrāṇām ahaṁ śaśī). Het zonlicht is te danken aan de spirituele gloed van de Allerhoogste Heer in de spirituele hemel.

Met het opkomen van de zon worden de activiteiten van de levende wezens in gang gezet. Ze ontsteken vuur om te koken, ze ontsteken vuur om de fabrieken te laten draaien enz. Zoveel dingen worden gedaan met behulp van vuur. En door maanlicht worden alle gewassen gevoed. Daarom zijn de levende wezens zo gelukkig met de zonsopkomst, het vuur en het maanlicht. Zonder hun hulp kan geen enkel levend wezen in leven blijven. Wie dus begrijpt dat het licht en de gloed van de zon, de maan en het vuur voortkomen uit de Allerhoogste Persoonlijkheid Gods, Kṛṣṇa, begint daarmee zijn Kṛṣṇa-bewustzijn. Mensen kunnen daardoor begrijpen dat ze leven door de genade van de Allerhoogste Persoonlijkheid Gods, Kṛṣṇa, omdat er zonder Zijn genade geen zon zou zijn en omdat er zonder Zijn genade geen maan zou zijn en omdat er zonder Zijn genade geen vuur zou zijn, en zonder de hulp van zon, maan en vuur kan niemand leven. Dit zijn enkele gedachten om bij de geconditioneerde ziel Kṛṣṇa-bewustzijn op te wekken.

From this verse we can understand that the sun is illuminating the whole solar system. There are different universes and solar systems, and there are different suns, moons and planets also, but in each universe there is only one sun. As stated in Bhagavad-gītā (10.21), the moon is one of the stars (nakṣatrāṇām ahaṁ śaśī). Sunlight is due to the spiritual effulgence in the spiritual sky of the Supreme Lord. With the rise of the sun, the activities of human beings are set up. They set fire to prepare their foodstuff, they set fire to start the factories, etc. So many things are done with the help of fire. Therefore sunrise, fire and moonlight are so pleasing to the living entities. Without their help no living entity can live. So if one can understand that the light and splendor of the sun, moon and fire are emanating from the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, then one’s Kṛṣṇa consciousness will begin. By the moonshine, all the vegetables are nourished. The moonshine is so pleasing that people can easily understand that they are living by the mercy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa. Without His mercy there cannot be sun, without His mercy there cannot be moon, and without His mercy there cannot be fire, and without the help of sun, moon and fire, no one can live. These are some thoughts to provoke Kṛṣṇa consciousness in the conditioned soul.
