Translation

Van alle bomen ben Ik de banyan-boom en van de wijzen onder de halfgoden ben Ik Nārada. Onder de Gandharva’s ben Ik Citraratha en onder de volmaakte wezens ben Ik de wijze Kapila.

Of all trees I am the banyan tree, and of the sages among the demigods I am Nārada. Of the Gandharvas I am Citraratha, and among perfected beings I am the sage Kapila.

De banyan-boom (aśvattha) is een van de hoogste en mooiste bomen en in India aanbidden de mensen deze boom vaak als onderdeel van hun dagelijkse ochtendrituelen. Onder de halfgoden aanbidden ze ook Nārada, die beschouwd wordt als de grootste toegewijde in het universum. Als toegewijde vertegenwoordigt hij daarom Kṛṣṇa.

De planeet van de Gandharva’s wordt door wezens bewoond die prachtig kunnen zingen en onder hen is Citraratha de beste zanger. Onder alle volmaakte levende wezens is Kapila, de zoon van Devahūti, een vertegenwoordiger van Kṛṣṇa. Hij wordt beschouwd als een incarnatie van Kṛṣṇa en Zijn filosofie staat vermeld in het Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. In latere tijden werd een andere Kapila beroemd, maar zijn filosofie was atheïstisch. Tussen deze twee Kapila’s bestaat dus een immens verschil.

The banyan tree (aśvattha) is one of the highest and most beautiful trees, and people in India often worship it as one of their daily morning rituals. Amongst the demigods they also worship Nārada, who is considered the greatest devotee in the universe. Thus he is the representation of Kṛṣṇa as a devotee. The Gandharva planet is filled with entities who sing beautifully, and among them the best singer is Citraratha. Amongst the perfect living entities, Kapila, the son of Devahūti, is a representative of Kṛṣṇa. He is considered an incarnation of Kṛṣṇa, and His philosophy is mentioned in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Later on another Kapila became famous, but his philosophy was atheistic. Thus there is a gulf of difference between them.
