Translation

El suelo al pie de la montaña es bañado constantemente por las olas de leche, que producen esmeraldas a su alrededor en las ocho direcciones [norte, sur, este, oeste y direcciones intermedias].

The ground at the foot of the mountain is always washed by waves of milk that produce emeralds all around in the eight directions [north, south, east, west and the directions midway between them].

En el Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam aprendemos que hay varios tipos de océanos. En cierto lugar hay un océano de leche, y en otros lugares encontramos océanos de licor, de ghī, de aceite y de agua dulce. Por lo tanto, en el universo hay distintos tipos de océanos. Los científicos actuales, cuya experiencia es muy limitada, no pueden desmentir estas afirmaciones; no pueden ofrecernos información completa acerca de ningún planeta, ni siquiera acerca del planeta en que vivimos. Sin embargo, de este verso se desprende que en los valles de algunas montañas, cuando son bañados por la leche, se producen esmeraldas. Nadie tiene la capacidad de imitar las actividades de la naturaleza material, que actúa bajo la dirección de la Suprema Personalidad de Dios.

From Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam we understand that there are various oceans. Somewhere there is an ocean filled with milk, somewhere an ocean of liquor, an ocean of ghee, an ocean of oil, and an ocean of sweet water. Thus there are different varieties of oceans within this universe. The modern scientists, who have only limited experience, cannot defy these statements; they cannot give us full information about any planet, even the planet on which we live. From this verse, however, we can understand that if the valleys of some mountains are washed with milk, this produces emeralds. No one has the ability to imitate the activities of material nature as conducted by the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
