tasyogra-daṇḍa-saṁvignāḥ
sarve lokāḥ sapālakāḥ
anyatrālabdha-śaraṇāḥ
śaraṇaṁ yayur acyutam

Translation

Con sus severos castigos, Hiraṇyakaśipu llevó a todos los habitantes del universo a una situación de extremado sufrimiento, de la que ni siquiera estaban libres los gobernantes de los distintos planetas. Perturbados y llenos de miedo, sin poder hallar ningún otro refugio, finalmente se entregaron a la Suprema Personalidad de Dios, Viṣṇu.

Everyone, including the rulers of the various planets, was extremely distressed because of the severe punishment inflicted upon them by Hiraṇyakaśipu. Fearful and disturbed, unable to find any other shelter, they at last surrendered to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Viṣṇu.

En el Bhagavad-gītā (5.29), el Señor Kṛṣṇa dice:

Lord Kṛṣṇa says in Bhagavad-gītā (5.29):

bhoktāraṁ yajña-tapasāṁ
sarva-loka-maheśvaram
suhṛdaṁ sarva-bhūtānāṁ
jñātvā māṁ śāntim ṛcchati

«La persona que tiene plena conciencia de Mí, sabiendo que Yo soy el beneficiario final de todo sacrificio y austeridad, el Señor Supremo de todos los planetas y semidioses, y el benefactor y bienqueriente de todas las entidades vivientes, se libera de los tormentos de las miserias materiales». La Suprema Personalidad de Dios es realmente el mejor amigo de todos. Cuando nos encontramos en un estado de sufrimiento o miseria, deseamos refugiarnos en un amigo bienqueriente. El amigo bienqueriente perfecto es el Señor Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Por esa razón, los habitantes de los diversos planetas, sin hallar ningún otro refugio, se vieron obligados a refugiarse a los pies de loto del amigo supremo. Si buscamos refugio en el amigo supremo desde un principio, estaremos a salvo de todos los peligros. Se dice que es de tontos pretender atravesar el océano agarrados de la cola de un perro que va nadando. Del mismo modo, también es de tontos buscar el refugio de un semidiós cuando estamos afligidos, porque nuestros esfuerzos van a ser inútiles. Debemos aspirar al refugio de la Suprema Personalidad de Dios en toda circunstancia. Entonces no estaremos en peligro en ninguna situación.

“The sage who knows Me as the ultimate purpose of all sacrifices and austerities, the Supreme Lord of all planets and demigods, and the benefactor and well-wisher of all living entities attains peace from the pangs of material miseries.” The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, is actually the best friend of everyone. In a condition of distress or misery, one wants to seek shelter of a well-wishing friend. The well-wishing friend of the perfect order is Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Therefore all the inhabitants of the various planets, being unable to find any other shelter, were obliged to seek shelter at the lotus feet of the supreme friend. If from the very beginning we seek shelter of the supreme friend, there will be no cause of danger. It is said that if a dog is swimming in the water and one wants to cross the ocean by catching hold of the dog’s tail, certainly he is foolish. Similarly, if in distress one seeks shelter of a demigod, he is foolish, for his efforts will be fruitless. In all circumstances, one should seek shelter of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Then there will be no danger under any circumstances.
