Translation

Mi Señor, tal vez digas que no hay ninguna ley que establezca que el padre tenga que morir en vida del hijo, o que el hijo tiene que nacer durante la vida del padre, pues la vida y la muerte dependen de las actividades fruitivas que se hayan realizado. Sin embargo, si la actividad fruitiva es tan poderosa como para que de ella dependan el nacimiento y la muerte, entonces no hay necesidad de ningún controlador o Dios. Es más, si dices que se necesita un controlador, debido a que la energía material no tiene poder para actuar, se Te puede responder diciendo que, si los lazos de afecto que Tú has creado se ven perturbados por la acción fruitiva, nadie criará a sus hijos con cariño, sino que todo el mundo les abandonará cruelmente a su suerte. Tú has cortado los lazos de afecto que impulsan al padre a criar al niño, y por ello das la impresión de ser inexperto y poco inteligente.

My Lord, You may say that there is no law that a father must die in the lifetime of his son and that a son must be born in the lifetime of his father, since everyone lives and dies according to his own fruitive activity. However, if fruitive activity is so strong that birth and death depend upon it, there is no need of a controller, or God. Again, if You say that a controller is needed because the material energy does not have the power to act, one may answer that if the bonds of affection You have created are disturbed by fruitive action, no one will raise children with affection; instead, everyone will cruelly neglect his children. Since You have cut the bonds of affection that compel a parent to raise his child, You appear inexperienced and unintelligent.

En la Brahma-saṁhitā se afirma: karmāṇi nirdahati kintu ca bhakti-bhājām: A quien ha emprendido el proceso de conciencia de Kṛṣṇa, el servicio devocional, no le afectan los resultados del karma. En este verso se enfatiza la importancia del karma según el punto de vista de la filosofía karma-mīmāṁsā, que postula que estamos forzados a actuar conforme a nuestro propio karma, cuyos resultados nos son dados por el controlador supremo. Las sutiles leyes del karma, que están bajo el control del Supremo, no puede entenderlas el alma condicionada corriente. Por esa razón, Kṛṣṇa dice que, cuando alguien puede entenderle a Él y la forma en que Él actúa, controlándolo todo mediante leyes sutiles, esa persona, por Su gracia, se libera inmediatamente. Eso es lo que afirma la Brahma-saṁhitā (karmāṇi nirdahati kintu ca bhakti-bhājām). Es necesario empeñarse sin reservas en el servicio devocional y dejarlo todo a la voluntad suprema del Señor. Eso nos dará la felicidad tanto en esta vida como en la siguiente.

As stated in the Brahma-saṁhitā, karmāṇi nirdahati kintu ca bhakti-bhājām: one who has taken to Kṛṣṇa consciousness, devotional service, is not affected by the results of karma. In this verse, karma has been stressed on the basis of karma-mīmāṁsā philosophy, which says that one must act according to his karma and that a supreme controller must give the results of karma. The subtle laws of karma, which are controlled by the Supreme, cannot be understood by ordinary conditioned souls. Therefore Kṛṣṇa says that one who can understand Him and how He is acting, controlling everything by subtle laws, immediately becomes freed by His grace. That is the statement of Brahma-saṁhitā (karmāṇi nirdahati kintu ca bhakti-bhājām). One should take to devotional service without reservations and surrender everything to the supreme will of the Lord. That will make one happy in this life and the next.
