A veces, en sueños, vemos algo que nunca hemos experimentado o escuchado en esta vida; se trata de episodios que hemos vivido en otros tiempos, otros lugares y otras circunstancias.

Sometimes in a dream we see something never experienced or heard of in this life, but all these incidents have been experienced at different times, in different places and in different conditions.

En el verso anterior se explicó que en los sueños vemos lo que hemos experimentado durante el día. Pero, ¿a qué se debe que a veces en los sueños experimentemos cosas que nunca hemos visto o escuchado en el curso de esta vida? Aquí se afirma que esas percepciones, que nunca hemos tenido en esta vida, provienen de experiencias de vidas anteriores. Conforme al momento y a las circunstancias, esas percepciones se combinan, y nos hacen ver en sueños cosas maravillosas que están fuera de nuestra experiencia. Por ejemplo, podemos ver un mar en la cima de una montaña, o que el océano se ha secado. Se trata simplemente de la combinación de experiencias distintas en el espacio y en el tiempo. A veces vemos una montaña de oro; esto se debe a que dentro de nuestra experiencia están las impresiones separadas del oro y de las montañas. En el sueño, bajo la influencia de la ilusión, combinamos esos factores separados. De esa forma podemos ver montañas de oro, o estrellas durante el día. En definitiva, se trata de invenciones de la mente, aunque se basan en percepciones reales habidas en circunstancias distintas. Simplemente se han combinado en un sueño. Este hecho se explica con más detalle en el verso siguiente.

In the previous verse it was explained that in dreams we see that which was experienced during the day. But why is it that we sometimes in our dreams see what we have never heard of or seen at any time during this life? Here it is stated that even though such events may not be experienced in this life, they were experienced in previous lives. According to time and circumstance, they combine so that in dreams we see something wonderful that we have never experienced. For instance, we may see an ocean on the peak of a mountain, or we may see that the ocean has dried up. These are simply combinations of different experiences in time and space. Sometimes we may see a golden mountain, and this is due to our having experienced gold and mountains separately. In the dream, under illusion, we combine these separate factors. In this way we are able to see golden mountains, or stars during the day. The conclusion is that these are all mental concoctions, although they have actually been experienced in different circumstances. They have simply combined together in a dream. This fact is further explained in the following verse.
