Traducción

Translation

Mi querida y delicada doncella, cuando un amo castiga a su sirviente, el sirviente debe aceptar el castigo y considerarlo una gran misericordia. El que se enfada tiene que ser muy tonto para no entender que ese es el deber de su amigo.

My dear slender maiden, when a master chastises his servant, the servant should accept this as great mercy. One who becomes angry must be very foolish not to know that such is the duty of his friend.

Significado

Purport

Se dice que el necio, por lo general, no puede aceptar las buenas instrucciones. En vez de aceptarlas, se irrita. Su ira se compara al veneno de la serpiente. Cuando se la alimenta con leche y plátanos, la serpiente se vuelve más venenosa. Se le da bien de comer, y en lugar de ser más misericordiosa y sobria, se vuelve más terriblemente venenosa. De manera similar, cuando un necio recibe un buen consejo, en lugar de corregirse, se enfada.

It is said that when a foolish man is instructed in something very nice, he generally cannot accept it. Indeed, he actually becomes angry. Such anger is compared to the poison of a serpent, for when a serpent is fed milk and bananas, its poison actually increases. Instead of becoming merciful or sober, the serpent increases its poisonous venom when fed nice foodstuffs. Similarly, when a fool is instructed, he does not rectify himself but actually becomes angry.
