kṣut-tṛṭ-tridhātubhir imā muhur ardyamānāḥ
śītoṣṇa-vāta-varaṣair itaretarāc ca
kāmāgninācyuta-ruṣā ca sudurbhareṇa
sampaśyato mana urukrama sīdate me

Translation

¡Oh, gran actor, mi Señor! Todas estas pobres criaturas están constantemente perplejas por el hambre, la sed, el severo frío, las secreciones y la bilis, atacadas por un helado invierno, un verano sofocante, lluvias, y muchos otros elementos perturbadores, y dominadas por fuertes impulsos sexuales y una infatigable ira. Yo me compadezco de ellas, y estoy muy afligido por ellas.

O great actor, my Lord, all these poor creatures are constantly perplexed by hunger, thirst, severe cold, secretion and bile, attacked by coughing winter, blasting summer, rains and many other disturbing elements, and overwhelmed by strong sex urges and indefatigable anger. I take pity on them, and I am very much aggrieved for them.

Purport

Un devoto puro del Señor, como Brahmā y las personas de su sucesión discipular, se siente siempre infeliz de ver las perplejidades de las almas condicionadas, que están sufriendo las embestidas de las tres clases de miserias características del cuerpo y de la mente, de las perturbaciones de la naturaleza material, y de muchas otras de esas desventajas materiales. Algunas personas que sufren, a veces se erigen en líderes de la gente, sin conocer las medidas adecuadas para aliviar esas dificultades, y los desafortunados seguidores son puestos en mayores desventajas bajo ese supuesto liderazgo. Es como el caso de un ciego que lleva a otro ciego a caer a un pozo. En consecuencia, a menos que los devotos del Señor se compadezcan de ellos y les enseñen el verdadero sendero, sus vidas son fracasos sin esperanzas. Los devotos del Señor que voluntariamente asumen la responsabilidad de elevar a los necios y materialistas disfrutadores de los sentidos, tienen una relación tan íntima con el Señor como la que tiene Brahmā.

A pure devotee of the Lord like Brahmā and persons in his disciplic succession are always unhappy to see the perplexities of the conditioned souls, who are suffering the onslaughts of the threefold miseries which pertain to the body and mind, to the disturbances of material nature, and to many other such material disadvantages. Not knowing adequate measures for relieving such difficulties, suffering persons sometimes pose themselves as leaders of the people, and the unfortunate followers are put into further disadvantages under such so-called leadership. This is like a blind man’s leading another blind man to fall into a ditch. Therefore, unless the devotees of the Lord take pity on them and teach them the right path, their lives are hopeless failures. The devotees of the Lord who voluntarily take the responsibility of raising the foolish materialistic sense enjoyers are as confidential to the Lord as Lord Brahmā.
