Traducción

Translation

Brahmā prosiguió: Mi querido Señor, no es necesario que juegues con este demonio serpentino, que es siempre muy experto en estratagemas, y es arrogante, autosuficiente y sumamente malvado.

Lord Brahmā continued: My dear Lord, there is no need to play with this serpentine demon, who is always very skilled in conjuring tricks and is arrogant, self-sufficient and most wicked.

Significado

Purport

A nadie le sabe mal que se mate a una serpiente. Entre niños, en los pueblos, es práctica común capturar una serpiente por la cola, jugar con ella un cierto tiempo y, después, matarla. Análogamente, el Señor pudo haber matado al demonio inmediatamente, pero jugó con Él del mismo modo que un niño juega con una sepiente antes de matarla. Brahmā, sin embargo, rogó que, como el demonio era más maligno e indeseable que una serpiente, no había necesidad de jugar con él. Su deseo era que se le matase al momento, sin más demora.

No one is unhappy when a serpent is killed. It is a practice among village boys to catch a serpent by the tail and play with it for some time and then kill it. Similarly, the Lord could have killed the demon at once, but He played with him in the same way as a child plays with a snake before killing it. Brahmā requested, however, that since the demon was more wicked and undesirable than a serpent, there was no need to play with him. It was his wish that he be killed at once, without delay.
