gāvas tantyeva yantritāḥ
haranti balim āyattās
tasmai mukhyāya te namaḥ

Translation

Las directrices védicas guían a todas las entidades vivientes del universo, tal como dirige a un buey la cuerda que se ata a su nariz. Nadie puede violar las reglas que se establecen en las Escrituras védicas. ¡Ofrecemos nuestro respeto a la persona principal, que nos ha legado los Vedas!

All the living entities within the universe are conducted by the Vedic directions, as a bull is directed by the rope attached to its nose. No one can violate the rules laid down in the Vedic literatures. To the chief person, who has contributed the Vedas, we offer our respect!

Purport

Las Escrituras védicas son las leyes de la Suprema Personalidad de Dios. No se pueden quebrantar los mandamientos que se dan en las Escrituras védicas, tal como no se pueden quebrantar las leyes del estado. Toda criatura viviente que quiera un verdadero beneficio en la vida debe actuar ajustándose a la guía de las Escrituras védicas. Las almas condicionadas que han venido a este mundo material en busca de complacencia material de los sentidos se regulan mediante los mandamientos de las Escrituras védicas. La complacencia de los sentidos es como la sal. No se puede tomar demasiada ni demasiado poca, pero hay que tomar una cierta cantidad de sal para hacer que los alimentos sean sabrosos. Aquellas almas condicionadas que han venido a este mundo material deben utilizar sus sentidos siguiendo la guía de las Escrituras védicas; de lo contrario, se verán puestos en una condición de vida más miserable. No existe ningún ser humano ni semidiós que pueda decretar leyes como las de las Escrituras védicas, porque las regulaciones védicas las dicta el Señor Supremo.

The Vedic literatures are the laws of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. One cannot violate the injunctions given in the Vedic literatures any more than one can violate the state laws. Any living creature who wants real benefit in life must act according to the direction of the Vedic literature. The conditioned souls who have come to this material world for material sense gratification are regulated by the injunctions of the Vedic literature. Sense gratification is just like salt. One cannot take too much or too little, but one must take some salt in order to make one’s foodstuff palatable. Those conditioned souls who have come to this material world should utilize their senses according to the direction of the Vedic literature; otherwise they will be put into a more miserable condition of life. No human being or demigod can enact laws like those of the Vedic literature because the Vedic regulations are prescribed by the Supreme Lord.
