Translation

¡Oh, tú, el muy erudito! Ten la bondad de erradicar todas mis dudas, y permíteme conocer acerca de todo lo que te he preguntado desde el principio hasta el fin.

O greatly learned one, kindly eradicate all my doubts, and let me know of all that I have inquired from you from the beginning to the end.

Purport

Vidura hizo a Maitreya toda clase de preguntas pertinentes, debido a que sabía bien que Maitreya era la persona apropiada para responder a todos los puntos de sus preguntas. Uno debe estar seguro de la capacidad de su profesor; uno no debe acercarse a un profano en busca de respuestas a preguntas espirituales específicas. Cuando un profesor responde preguntas de esa índole con respuestas imaginadas, dichas preguntas se vuelven un programa para perder el tiempo.

Vidura asked all relevant questions of Maitreya because he knew well that Maitreya was the right person to reply to all the points of his inquiries. One must be confident about the qualifications of his teacher; one should not approach a layman for replies to specific spiritual inquiries. Such inquiries, when replied to with imaginative answers by the teacher, are a program for wasting time.
