rathaṁ mṛgendra-dhvajam āśritaḥ purāt
vṛto rathāśva-dvipapatti-yuktayā
sva-senayā digvijayāya nirgataḥ

Translation

Mahārāja Parīkṣit se sentó en una cuadriga tirada por caballos negros. Su bandera ostentaba el signo de un león. Adornado así y rodeado por aurigas, caballería, elefantes y soldados de infantería, salió de la capital a realizar conquistas en todas las direcciones.

Mahārāja Parīkṣit sat on a chariot drawn by black horses. His flag was marked with the sign of a lion. Being so decorated and surrounded by charioteers, cavalry, elephants and infantry soldiers, he left the capital to conquer in all directions.

A Mahārāja Parīkṣit se lo distingue de su abuelo Arjuna, porque su cuadriga la tiraban caballos negros en vez de blancos. Él marcaba su bandera con el signo de un león, y su abuelo marcaba la suya con el emblema de Hanumānjī. Una procesión real como en la que iba Mahārāja Parīkṣit rodeado de cuadrigas bien adornadas, caballería, elefantes, infantería y una banda, no solo es agradable a la vista, sino que también es el signo de una civilización que es estética incluso en el frente de batalla.

Mahārāja Parīkṣit is distinguished from his grandfather Arjuna, for black horses pulled his chariot instead of white horses. He marked his flag with the mark of a lion, and his grandfather marked his with the mark of Hanumānjī. A royal procession like that of Mahārāja Parīkṣit surrounded by well-decorated chariots, cavalry, elephants, infantry and band not only is pleasing to the eyes, but also is a sign of a civilization that is aesthetic even on the fighting front.
