En la noche, por la gracia de la luz de la Luna, se pueden ver las nubes moverse en el cielo. Inclusive la Luna misma parece moverse también, tal como un ser viviente parece estar moviéndose debido a la falsa identificación con la materia.
16. At night, by the grace of the moonlight, the clouds in the sky can be seen moving. Yet the moon itself also appears to be moving, just as a living being appears to be moving because of false identification with matter.
Por la noche, en la estación lluviosa, las nubes que se mueven y reflejan la luz de la Luna, hacen que la Luna parezca moverse. Esto se llama ilusión. El alma espiritual, o el ser viviente, es la raíz de todas las actividades del cuerpo material, pero, debido a la ilusión, el alma espiritual permanece cubierta por los cuerpos materiales burdo y sutil. Cubierta así, el alma condicionada se identifica con el cuerpo material y queda sujeta al sentido del ego falso.
At night in the rainy season the moving clouds reflecting the moonlight make the moon appear to be moving. This is called illusion. The spirit soul, or the living being, is the root of all the activities of the material body, but because of illusion the spirit soul remains covered by the gross and subtle material bodies. Thus covered, the conditioned soul identifies with the material body and becomes subject to the sense of false ego.
Este ego falso obliga a un ser viviente a considerar que su cuerpo material es el ser, que la progenie del cuerpo son sus niños y que el lugar de nacimiento del cuerpo es un objeto de adoración. Así, el concepto de nacionalismo del ser viviente es otro tipo de ignorancia. Debido a la ignorancia, un ser viviente se identifica con el lugar de su nacimiento y se emociona con los conceptos erróneos de las ideas nacionales. This false ego obliges a living being to consider his material body to be his self, the offspring of the body to be his children, and the land of the birth of the body to be an object of worship. Thus the living being's conception of nationalism is another type of ignorance. Because of ignorance, a living being identifies himself with the land of his birth and moves with the misconceptions of national ideas. In fact, however, a living being does not belong to any nation or species of life. He has nothing to do with the body, as the moon has nothing to do with the moving clouds.
La Luna está lejos de las nubes y se encuentra fija en su propia órbita, pero la ilusión presenta una escena en la cual la Luna parece estar moviéndose. Un ser viviente no debe dejarse llevar por el concepto erróneo del cuerpo material; debe saber siempre que es trascendental a la identidad corporal. Este es el sendero del conocimiento y el conocimiento completo fija al ser viviente en la órbita de las actividades espirituales.
The moon is far away from the clouds and is fixed in its own orbit, but illusion presents a scene in which the moon appears to be moving. A living being should not float with the misconception of the temporary body; he must always know himself to be transcendental to the bodily identity. This is the path of knowledge, and complete knowledge fixes the living being in the orbit of spiritual activities.
La fuerza viviente espiritual es siempre activa por naturaleza. Por ilusión, sus actividades están erróneamente orientadas en relación con el cuerpo; pero en la condición liberada del conocimiento completo, sus actividades son dirigidas por la devoción espiritual. Liberación no significa detener las actividades; significa ser purificado de las actividades ilusorias y volverse trascendental a las relaciones con los cuerpos burdo y sutil.
The spiritual living force is always active by nature. By illusion his activities are wrongly directed in relation with the body, but in the liberated condition of complete knowledge his activities are conducted in spiritual devotion. Liberation does not mean stopping activities; it means being purified of illusory activities and becoming transcendental to relations with the gross and subtle bodies.
