Translation

Todas las personas allí reunidas se sentaron para honrar el prasādam, y, uno tras otro, todos recibieron prasādam. En primer lugar fueron servidos los brāhmaṇas y sus esposas.

All the people gathered there sat down to honor the prasādam, and by and by they took food. All the brāhmaṇas and their wives were fed first.

Significado

Purport

En el sistema de varṇāśrama, los brāhmaṇas siempre reciben los primeros honores. Así, en aquel festival, los brāhmaṇas y sus esposas fueron los primeros en recibir los remanentes del alimento, antes que los demás (kṣatriyas, vaiśyas y śūdras). Ése ha sido siempre el sistema, que sigue vigente aún en la India, pese a que los brāhmaṇas de casta no están debidamente cualificados. El sistema sigue vigente debido a las reglas y regulaciones de la institución varṇāśrama.

According to the varṇāśrama system, the brāhmaṇas are always honored first. Thus at the festival, the brāhmaṇas and their wives were first offered the remnants of food, and then the others (kṣatriyas, vaiśyas and śūdras). This has always been the system, and it is still prevalent in India, even though the caste brāhmaṇas are not qualified. The system is still current due to the varṇāśrama institutional rules and regulations.
