Translation

«El objetivo del amor por Dios no es volverse materialmente rico, ni liberarse del cautiverio material. El verdadero objetivo es situarse en el plano del servicio devocional del Señor y disfrutar de bienaventuranza trascendental.

“The goal of love of Godhead is not to become materially rich or free from material bondage. The real goal is to be situated in devotional service to the Lord and to enjoy transcendental bliss.

Purport

Ciertamente, los resultados del servicio devocional no son los beneficios materiales o la liberación del cautiverio material. El objetivo del servicio devocional es situarse eternamente en el servicio amoroso del Señor y disfrutar de la bienaventuranza espiritual de ese servicio. Cuando alguien olvida a la Suprema Personalidad de Dios, se le considera sumido en la pobreza. Hay que poner fin a esa vida de pobreza, para así, como consecuencia natural, poner fin también a las miserias de la existencia material. Quien saborea el servicio de Kṛṣṇa queda de inmediato liberado del disfrute material. No es necesario ningún esfuerzo adicional para obtener opulencias. Al devoto puro, la opulencia le viene de modo natural, aunque no desee la felicidad material.

The results of devotional service are certainly not material benefits or liberation from material bondage. The goal of devotional service is to be eternally situated in the loving service of the Lord and to enjoy spiritual bliss from that service. One is said to be in a poverty-stricken condition when one forgets the Supreme Personality of Godhead. One has to end such a life of poverty in order to automatically end the miserable conditions of material existence. One is automatically liberated from material enjoyment when one tastes the service of Kṛṣṇa. One does not have to endeavor separately for opulence. Opulence automatically comes to the pure devotee, even though he does not desire material happiness.
