Translation

La práctica totalidad de los brāhmaṇas de Nadia dependían de la caridad de Hiraṇya y Govardhana, que les daban dinero, tierras y aldeas.

Practically all the brāhmaṇas residing in Nadia were dependent on the charity of Hiraṇya and Govardhana, who gave them money, land and villages.

Purport

Aunque en tiempos de Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu Navadvīpa era una ciudad muy opulenta y populosa, la práctica totalidad de los brāhmaṇas dependían de la caridad de Hiraṇya y Govardhana. Ambos hermanos sentían mucho respeto por los brāhmaṇas, de modo que les daban dinero con gran generosidad.

Although Navadvīpa was very opulent and populous during Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu’s time, practically all the brāhmaṇas depended on the charity of Hiraṇya and Govardhana. Because the brothers highly respected the brāhmaṇas, they very liberally gave them money.
