prabhu kahe, — ‘ādi-vasyā’ duḥkha kāṅhe māne?
kebā ki diyāche, tāhā ānaha ekhāne

Translation

Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu contestó: «¿A qué viene esa tristeza tan tonta? Tráeme aquí todo lo que te hayan dado».

Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu replied, “Why are you so foolishly unhappy? Bring here to Me whatever they have given you.”

Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura explica que la palabra ādi-vasyā se refiere a una persona que lleva mucho tiempo viviendo con otra. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu Se dirigió a Govinda con la palabra ādi-vasyā porque llevaba mucho tiempo viviendo con Él, mientras que otros devotos, en su mayoría nuevos, iban y venían. En efecto, el Señor dijo a Govinda: «Tú llevas mucho tiempo viviendo conmigo, de modo que no deberías sentirte tontamente contrariado en esta situación. Tráeme toda la comida, y verás que puedo comerla».

Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura explains that the word ādi-vasyā refers to one who has been living with another for a very long time. Govinda was addressed as ādi-vasyā because he had been living with Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu for a very long time, whereas other devotees, who were mostly new, would come and go. In effect, the Lord told Govinda, “Since you have been living with Me for a long time, you should not be foolishly disappointed in this situation. Bring all the food to Me, and you will see that I can eat it.”
