indriyāṇāṁ hi caratāṁ
yan mano ’nuvidhīyate
tad asya harati prajñāṁ
vāyur nāvam ivāmbhasi
indriyāṇāṁ hi caratāṁ

Traducción

Translation

Así como un fuerte viento arrastra un bote que se encuentre en el agua, así mismo uno solo de los errantes sentidos en el que se concentre la mente, puede arrastrar la inteligencia del hombre.

As a strong wind sweeps away a boat on the water, even one of the roaming senses on which the mind focuses can carry away a man’s intelligence.

Significado

Purport

A menos que todos los sentidos estén dedicados al servicio del Señor, hasta uno de ellos que esté dedicado a la complacencia sensual, puede alejar al devoto del sendero del avance trascendental. Como se dice de la vida de Mahārāja Ambarīṣa, todos los sentidos deben estar ocupados en el proceso de conciencia de Kṛṣṇa, pues esa es la técnica correcta para controlar la mente.

Unless all of the senses are engaged in the service of the Lord, even one of them engaged in sense gratification can deviate the devotee from the path of transcendental advancement. As mentioned in the life of Mahārāja Ambarīṣa, all of the senses must be engaged in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, for that is the correct technique for controlling the mind.
