परस्य द‍ृश्यते धर्मो ह्यपरस्मिन्समन्वयात् ।
अतो विशेषो भावानां भूमावेवोपलक्ष्यते ॥ ४९ ॥

Traducción

Since the cause exists in its effect as well, the characteristics of the former are observed in the latter. That is why the peculiarities of all the elements exist in the earth alone.

La causa también está en su efecto, y por ello las características de aquella se observan en este. Ese es el motivo de que la tierra cuente por sí sola con las peculiaridades de todos los elementos.

Significado

Sound is the cause of the sky, sky is the cause of the air, air is the cause of fire, fire is the cause of water, and water is the cause of earth. In the sky there is only sound; in the air there are sound and touch; in the fire there are sound, touch and form; in water there are sound, touch, form and taste; and in the earth there are sound, touch, form, taste and smell. Therefore earth is the reservoir of all the qualities of the other elements. Earth is the sum total of all other elements. The earth has all five qualities of the elements, water has four qualities, fire has three, air has two, and the sky has only one quality, sound.

El sonido es la causa del cielo; el cielo, del aire; el aire, del fuego; el fuego, del agua; y el agua es la causa de la tierra. En el cielo solo hay sonido; en el aire hay sonido y tacto; en el fuego hay sonido, tacto y forma; en el agua hay sonido, tacto, forma y sabor; y en la tierra hay sonido, tacto, forma, sabor y olor. Por lo tanto, en la tierra están depositadas todas las cualidades de los demás elementos. La tierra es la suma de todos los demás elementos. La tierra tiene las cinco cualidades de los elementos; el agua tiene cuatro cualidades; el fuego, tres; el aire, dos; y el espacio solo tiene una cualidad, el sonido.
