Translation

Traducción

Sūta Gosvāmī said: Thereafter the Pāṇḍavas, desiring to deliver water to the dead relatives who had desired it, went to the Ganges with Draupadī. The ladies walked in front.

Sūta Gosvāmī dijo: Luego, los Pāṇḍavas, deseando repartirles agua a los parientes muertos que lo habían deseado, fueron al Ganges con Draupadī. Las damas iban delante.

Purport

Significado

To date it is the custom in Hindu society to go to the Ganges or any other sacred river to take bath when death occurs in the family. Each of the family members pours out a potful of the Ganges water for the departed soul and walks in a procession, with the ladies in the front. The Pāṇḍavas also followed the rules more than five thousand years ago. Lord Kṛṣṇa, being a cousin of the Pāṇḍavas, was also amongst the family members.

En la sociedad hindú se acostumbra hasta la fecha ir a bañarse al Ganges o a cualquier otro río sagrado, cuando ocurre alguna muerte en la familia. Cada uno de los miembros de la familia vierte un tarro de agua del Ganges por el alma que ha partido, y camina en una procesión con las damas delante. Los Pāṇḍavas también seguían las reglas hace más de cinco mil años. El Señor Kṛṣṇa, siendo primo de los Pāṇḍavas, también se encontraba entre los familiares.
