The city gateway, the household doors and festooned arches along the roads were all nicely decorated with festive signs like plantain trees and mango leaves, all to welcome the Lord. Flags, garlands and painted signs and slogans all combined to shade the sunshine.

La entrada de la ciudad, las puertas de las casas y los arcos festoneados que había a lo largo de los caminos, estaban todos bellamente decorados con símbolos festivos, tales como matas de plátano y hojas de mango, todo para darle la bienvenida al Señor. Banderas, guirnaldas y letreros y lemas pintados, se combinaban todos para proteger de la luz del sol.

Significado

Signs of decoration in special festivals were also collected from the gifts of nature, such as the plantain trees, the mango trees, fruits and flowers. Mango trees, coconut palms and plantain trees are still accepted as auspicious signs. The flags mentioned above were all painted with the picture of either Garuḍa or Hanumān, the two great servitors of the Lord. For devotees, such paintings and decorations are still adored, and the servitor of the master is paid more respects for the satisfaction of the Lord.

Los símbolos decorativos de los festivales especiales, tales como las matas de plátano, los árboles de mango, las frutas y las flores, se tomaban también de los regalos de la naturaleza. Los árboles de mango, las palmas de coco y las matas de plátanos aún se consideran signos auspiciosos. Todas las banderas que se mencionaron antes tenían pintadas la imagen de, o bien Garuḍa, o bien Hanumān, los dos grandes servidores del Señor. Los devotos todavía adoran esa clase de pinturas y decoraciones, y, para satisfacción del Señor, al servidor del amo se le ofrecen más respetos a que este último.
