Translation

Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu asked, “Of all kinds of distress, what is the most painful?”

Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu preguntó: «De todas las formas de sufrimiento, ¿cuál es la más dolorosa?».

Śrī Rāmānanda Rāya replied, “Apart from separation from the devotee of Kṛṣṇa, I know of no unbearable unhappiness.”

Śrī Rāmānanda Rāya contestó: «Excepto estar separado del devoto de Kṛṣṇa, no sé de ninguna desdicha insoportable».

Significado

Concerning this, the Lord states in the Vedic literature:

En relación con esto, el Señor dice en las Escrituras védicas:

mām anārādhya duḥkhārtaḥkuṭumbāsakta-mānasaḥ
sat-saṅga-rahito martyo
vṛddha-sevā-paricyutaḥ
mām anārādhya duḥkhārtaḥkuṭumbāsakta-mānasaḥ
sat-saṅga-rahito martyo
vṛddha-sevā-paricyutaḥ

“A person who does not worship Me, who is unduly attached to family and who does not stick to devotional service must be considered a most unhappy person. Similarly, one who does not associate with Vaiṣṇavas, or who does not render service to his superior, is also a most unhappy person.”

«La persona que no Me adora, que está indebidamente apegada a la familia y que no sigue el proceso de servicio devocional, debe ser considerada sumamente desdichada. Del mismo modo, aquel que no se relaciona con vaiṣṇavas, o que no ofrece servicio a su superior, también es sumamente desdichado».

There is also the following statement in the Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta (1.5.54):

sva-jīvanādhikaṁ prārthyaṁśrī-viṣṇu-jana-saṅgataḥ
vicchedena kṣaṇaṁ cātra

vicchedena kṣaṇaṁ cātra
na sukhāṁśaṁ labhāmahe

“Out of all kinds of desirable things experienced in the life of a living entity, association with the devotees of the Lord is the greatest. When we are separated from a devotee even for a moment, we cannot enjoy happiness.”

«De todos los tipos de cosas deseables que la entidad viviente experimenta en su vida, la relación con los devotos del Señor es la mejor. Cuando nos separamos del devoto, aunque sea por un momento, no podemos disfrutar de felicidad».
