kevala jñāna ‘mukti’ dite nāre bhakti vine
kṛṣṇonmukhe sei mukti haya vinā jñāne

“Speculative knowledge alone, without devotional service, is not able to give liberation. On the other hand, even without knowledge one can obtain liberation if one engages in the Lord’s devotional service.

«El conocimiento especulativo, por sí solo, sin servicio devocional, no puede dar la liberación. En cambio, quien se ocupa en el servicio devocional del Señor puede obtener la liberación incluso sin poseer conocimiento.

Significado

One cannot attain liberation simply by speculative knowledge. Even though one may be able to distinguish between Brahman and matter, one’s liberation will be hampered if one is misled into thinking that the living entity is as good as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Indeed, one falls down again onto the material platform because considering oneself the Supreme Person, the Supreme Absolute Truth, is offensive. When such a person comes in contact with a pure devotee, he can actually become liberated from material bondage and engage in the Lord’s service. A prayer by Bilvamaṅgala Ṭhākura is relevant here:

No se puede obtener la liberación simplemente por medio del conocimiento especulativo. Aunque sepamos distinguir entre el Brahman y la materia, si nos dejamos seducir por la idea de que la entidad viviente es igual a la Suprema Personalidad de Dios, no podremos alcanzar la liberación. En verdad, caeremos de nuevo en el plano material, pues es ofensivo considerarse la Persona Suprema, la Verdad Absoluta Suprema. Sólo cuando entremos en contacto con un devoto puro y nos ocupemos realmente en el servicio del Señor podremos liberarnos del cautiverio material. En relación con esto, es significativa una oración de Bilvamaṅgala Ṭhākura:

bhaktis tvayi sthiratarā bhagavan yadi syād
daivena naḥ phalati divya-kiśora-mūrtiḥ
muktiḥ svayaṁ mukulitāñjali sevate ’smān
dharmārtha-kāma-gatayaḥ samaya-pratīkṣāḥ

“O my Lord, if one engages in Your pure devotional service with determination, You become visible in Your original transcendental youthful form as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. As far as liberation is concerned, she stands before the devotee with folded hands waiting to render service. Religion, economic development and sense gratification are all automatically attained without separate endeavor.” (Kṛṣṇa-karṇāmṛta 107)

«¡Oh, mi Señor!, cuando alguien se ocupa en Tu servicio devocional puro con determinación, Tú Te haces visible en Tu juvenil forma original trascendental como Suprema Personalidad de Dios. La liberación, por su parte, espera ante el devoto, con las manos juntas, la oportunidad de ofrecer servicio. La religión, el crecimiento económico y la complacencia de los sentidos se obtienen de forma natural, sin ningún esfuerzo adicional» (Kṛṣṇa-karṇāmṛta 107).
