Translation

Traducción

“There also arrived many Lord Śivas with various heads numbering one hundred thousand and ten million. Many Indras also arrived, and they had hundreds of thousands of eyes all over their bodies.

«Vinieron también muchos śivas, de hasta cien mil o diez millones de cabezas. Vinieron además muchos indras, con cientos de miles de ojos por todo el cuerpo.

Purport

Significado

It is said that Indra, the King of heaven, is very lusty. Once he had sexual intercourse with the wife of a great sage, and when the sage learned about this, he cursed lusty Indra with a curse that put vaginas all over his body. Being very much ashamed, Indra fell down at the lotus feet of the great sage and begged his pardon. Being compassionate, the sage turned the vaginas into eyes; therefore Indra possesses hundreds and thousands of eyes all over his body. Just as Lord Brahmā and Lord Śiva have many faces, the King of heaven, Indra, has many eyes.

Se dice que Indra, el rey del cielo, es muy lujurioso. En cierta ocasión, tuvo relaciones sexuales con la esposa de un gran sabio; pero el sabio lo supo y maldijo al lujurioso Indra. Como resultado de la maldición, el cuerpo del lujurioso Indra se cubrió de vaginas. Muy avergonzado, Indra se postró a los pies de loto del gran sabio y le pidió perdón. El sabio, sintiendo compasión, transformó las vaginas en ojos; por esa razón, Indra tiene el cuerpo cubierto de cientos de miles de ojos. Del mismo modo que el Señor Brahmā y el Señor Śiva tienen muchas cabezas, el rey del cielo, Indra, tiene muchos ojos.
