यत्र काले त्वनावृत्तिमावृत्तिं चैव योगिन: ।
प्रयाता यान्ति तं कालं वक्ष्यामि भरतर्षभ ॥ २३ ॥

O best of the Bhāratas, I shall now explain to you the different times at which, passing away from this world, the yogī does or does not come back.

Ó melhor dos Bhāratas, Eu agora vou explicar a Você os diferentes momentos em que, partindo deste mundo, o yogī retorna ou não.

Comentário

The unalloyed devotees of the Supreme Lord, who are totally surrendered souls, do not care when they leave their bodies or by what method. They leave everything in Kṛṣṇa’s hands and so easily and happily return to Godhead. But those who are not unalloyed devotees and who depend instead on such methods of spiritual realization as karma-yoga, jñāna-yoga and haṭha-yoga must leave the body at a suitable time in order to be sure of whether or not they will return to the world of birth and death.

Os devotos imaculados do Senhor Supremo, que são almas totalmente rendidas, não se preocupam em procurar qual é o momento ou método adequado para abandonarem o corpo. Eles deixam tudo nas mãos de Kṛṣṇa e desse modo, felizes, facilmente retornam ao Supremo. Mas aqueles que não são devotos puros e que, muito pelo contrário, para obterem a percepção espiritual recorrem a métodos tais como karma-yoga, jñāna-yoga e haṭha-yoga, devem abandonar o corpo num momento conveniente e desse modo certificarem-se de que retornarão ou não ao mundo de nascimentos e mortes.

If the yogī is perfect he can select the time and situation for leaving this material world. But if he is not so expert his success depends on his accidentally passing away at a certain suitable time. The suitable times at which one passes away and does not come back are explained by the Lord in the next verse. According to Ācārya Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa, the Sanskrit word kāla used herein refers to the presiding deity of time.

Se o yogī é perfeito, ele pode escolher o momento e a situação para deixar este mundo material. Mas se não tem tanta habilidade, seu sucesso depende do fato de que ele porventura morra em certa hora favorável. Os momentos apropriados em que a pessoa parte e não volta são explicados pelo Senhor no próximo verso. Segundo Ācārya Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa, a palavra sânscrita kāla usada nesta passagem refere-se à deidade que preside o tempo.
