इन्द्रियाणां हि चरतां यन्मनोऽनुविधीयते ।
तदस्य हरति प्रज्ञां वायुर्नावमिवाम्भसि ॥ ६७ ॥

yan mano ’nuvidhīyate
tad asya harati prajñāṁ
vāyur nāvam ivāmbhasi

Translation

Vertaling

As a strong wind sweeps away a boat on the water, even one of the roaming senses on which the mind focuses can carry away a man’s intelligence.

Zoals een boot op het water meegevoerd wordt door een sterke wind, zo kan zelfs īīn van de ronddolende zintuigen waarop de geest zich richt, iemands intelligentie meevoeren.

Betekenisverklaring

Unless all of the senses are engaged in the service of the Lord, even one of them engaged in sense gratification can deviate the devotee from the path of transcendental advancement. As mentioned in the life of Mahārāja Ambarīṣa, all of the senses must be engaged in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, for that is the correct technique for controlling the mind.

Tenzij alle zintuigen in dienst aan de Heer worden gebruikt, kan zelfs īīn zintuig dat zich op zinsbevrediging richt, de toegewijde van het pad van spirituele vooruitgang afbrengen. Zoals duidelijk werd uit het leven van Mahārāja Ambarīṣa, moeten alle zintuigen in Kṛṣṇa-bewustzijn worden gebruikt; dat is de juiste techniek om de geest te beheersen.
