भयाद्रणादुपरतं मंस्यन्ते त्वां महारथाः ।
येषां च त्वं बहुमतो भूत्वा यास्यसि लाघवम् ॥ ३५ ॥

bhayād raṇād uparataṁ
maṁsyante tvāṁ mahā-rathāḥ
yeṣāṁ ca tvaṁ bahu-mato
bhūtvā yāsyasi lāghavam
바야드라낟 우빠라땀 bhayād raṇād uparataṁ
맘샨떼 뜨밤 마하-라타하 maṁsyante tvāṁ mahā-rathāḥ
예샴 짜 뜨밤 바후-마또 yeṣāṁ ca tvaṁ bahu-mato
부뜨바 야샤시 라가밤 bhūtvā yāsyasi lāghavam

Translation

번역

The great generals who have highly esteemed your name and fame will think that you have left the battlefield out of fear only, and thus they will consider you insignificant.

너의 이름과 명성을 높이 사던 장군들은 네가 오직 두려움으로 전장을 떠났다고 생각할 것이고, 따라서 그들은 너를 하찮은 자로 여길 것이다.

주석

Lord Kṛṣṇa continued to give His verdict to Arjuna: “Do not think that the great generals like Duryodhana, Karṇa and other contemporaries will think that you have left the battlefield out of compassion for your brothers and grandfather. They will think that you have left out of fear for your life. And thus their high estimation of your personality will go to hell.”

주 끄리쉬나께서 아르주나에게 당신의 의견을 계속 말씀하셨다. “듀로다나와 까르나 및 다른 위대한 장수들이 네가 너의 형제들과 할아버지에 대한 동정심 때문에 전장을 떠났다고 생각해 주리라 여기지 마라. 그들은 네가 목숨을 잃을까 두려워 달아났다고 생각할 것이다. 따라서 네 인격에 대한 그들의 높은 평가는 지옥으로 떨어질 것이다.”
